The Northerly Stakes & the Belgravia Stakes postponed from todays ASCOT meeting will now be run at Ascot next wednesday October 21.
The Belgravia will remain as a final field, however due to lack of racing oportunities the entries for the Northerly Stakes have been re-open until 8am on Monday October 19.
A complete new field will be released for the Northerly Stakes on Monday at 9am. The two other races non run at Ascot today have been abandoned.

Anyway it'd be good if they moved the meeting to Tuesday so that it has minimal impact on horses preparing for future engagements. Or why not try a twilight meeting from 4pm on Monday for the 4 races???...EDIT... i realise this would put massive pressure on anyone taking a horse to trials..So not a real option, but maybe they could do it Tuesday evening..And that is a serious suggestion
Ive been converted - over the side they go - what an absolute debacle.
Have tried for a long time to take the glass 1/2 full view but today's effort really leaves me flabbergasted

Learnt a long time ago that you don't try and patch things up with bandaids - pretty soon there is not a bandage big enough to cover all the bandaids used.
Farq ups 101 - pull up stumps - fix it properly and don't stuff around

ASCOT MEETING ABANDONED AFTER SAFETY CONCERNS
ASCOT’S grand re-opening today was marred by a fall in an exhibition
gallop, an injured horse and renewed safety concerns about the track.
When Lenience, trained by Neville Parnham and ridden by son Steven,
appeared to slip and blunder about 50 metres from the end of its gallop
with Watermans Bay, it sparked an emergency meeting among stakeholders
and Brad Lewis, the chief steward.
The upshot of that meeting was that final four races, including the
G3 $150,000 Northerly Stakes and the Listed $100,000 Belgravia Stakes,
were lost as the meeting was called off.
Parnham told stewards the horse appeared to lose its footing, slip
and blunder for no reason. “It was apparent there were slip marks
there,” Lewis said.
“For safety reasons we could not be confident the meeting could proceed,” Lewis said.
“There has been some issues with the track leading into the meeting
so we had the rail in the 10 m. position and the exhibition gallop was
five or six m. out from there,” Lewis said.
There had been nothing in the first four races to flag what happened in the exhibition gallop.
Lewis said remedial work would be conducted, beginning tomorrow, a
track gallop would be held on Tuesday followed by a further track
inspection when a decision would be made if the meeting on Wednesday
would proceed.
He said he believes that Lenience may have suffered an injury, but he
said he’s unsure to what extent. A veterinary report from the Parnham
stable is expected tomorrow.
Lewis said he’s confident that the meeting on Wednesday, which will
feature $150,000 Northerly Stakes and the $100,000 Belgravia Stakes,
will go ahead with the rail out 18m.
He said a report would be prepared to Racing and Wagering West Australia.
:-O this appears to be a "new" problem
"The track issue was separate to two other problems that had trainers and jockeys deeply concerned in the lead-up to opening day.
Some areas of the track near the inside are still recovering from damage after drainage pipes were installed about nine weeks ago.
And areas of the turf were burnt last month when chemical spray was used to kill winter weeds."
"Calls by trainers to move the meeting to Belmont Park, which would allow the Ascot track to get back to 100 per cent, fell on deaf ears.
WA Racing Trainers’ Association president Trevor Andrews said Belmont must be looked at to stage race meetings while the Ascot track is unsafe for racing."
