R1. Evolution Av Plate - Scott Embry

Plenty of juveniles around at the minute with a 2 year old maiden added to Wednesday's race card for the upcoming mid week meet. My Demi goes on top care of his encouraging debut performance behind all the way winner Hard of Heart. Should improve off that run with visors going on and from barrier 2 gets every possible chance. Soundcheck was a sharp winner and is a half to a number of handy early two year olds in Jest Envy Her and Jestpatim. Should get a lovely run and when asked for an effort in his most recent trial responded very nicely. They look the two on paper. Outside those Keeper Keen trialled well as did Media Baron who has a lot of toe and should ensure the race is run genuinely sitting potentially outside Colourful Charade in running.

1. MY DEMI - 7. SOUNDCHECK - 3. KEEPER KEEN

R2. Tony Cook Handicap - Scott Embry

Two on top selections both come from the same race with Tradesman winning from Scales of Justice who has since come out and won, now heading into the Group 3 RJ Peters. Outlaw Pete was struggling to keep up coming round the corner and really hit the line well, second-up stats read very well and with blinkers re-added to race gear he should position up nicely midfield with cover. Universal Law comes from the same race and was held up at crucial stages on a couple of different occasions, nothing major but for a horse who needs a long time to wind up it took its toll on his winning hopes. Pounamu is a places specialist and a non-winner, he'll run another good race without winning. Who's to Blame is one to include in novelties. Taking on Star Exhibit from the inside gate with a claiming apprentice aboard.

    3. OUTLAW PETE - 4. UNIVERSAL LAW - 6. POUNAMU

R3. Eskimo Joe Performing Next Saturday Handicap - Scott Embry

State Solicitor has answered every question posed of him so far but on Saturday, rising to 58kg, drawn barrier 11 of 11 and missing the services of the state's best in W.Pike who is out suspended it will take a career best performance to win. He won effortless last start but that being said got a lovely run inside of Lenience over the concluding stages and never went around another horse. He is exiciting but if he is ever going to get rolled in 72+ grade it will be on Saturday. King River has bar plates added to racing gear which is a huge concern but if he sees daylight from barrier 1 then can ping late. Red Publisher was bitterly disappointing first-up when carrying 60.5kg and caught three and four wide the trip from barrier 5. He drops to 53.5 here and meets King River a massive 7kg better at the weights for beating him home at Belmont Park in May.

    3. STATE SOLICITOR - 5. KING RIVER - 9. RED PUBLISHER

R4. Network Ten Handicap - Scott Embry

Hard to ignore the massive market move and win of Our Mate Al on Cup day. He was confidently backed from $6.50 into $3.60 and duly saluted for astute punters. He generally requires the pace on in races to hit the line but with Jarrad Noske in the saddle looks a completely different horse. He drops in weight and this looks again winnable. Hopetoun is loving being back at Ascot and won impressively last start, probably slides back from the alley and gets a track into the race 3 wide with cover from the 800 and if he is within 2 or 3 lengths as they corner will be hard to hold out. Astronomite continues to burn favourite frothers and from the inside gate, without W.Pike, he is again under the odds. 1400m is a much more suitable trip but proceed with caution. Pinzu is a month between runs and has bar plates on but his first-up run behind Krakka Vision was excellent.

    9. OUR MATE AL - 6. HOPETOUN (NZ) - 2. ASTRONOMITE

R5. Breast Cancer Care-w.a. Champion Fillies Stakes - Scott Embry

The biggest question mark I have over Royal Missile is whether she can jump away a little sharper from the barriers and settle midfield with cover rather than being last around the home corner. She ran home in a blistering final 600m burst in the Burgess Queen on a track which was suiting leaders and is definitely a galloper who will relish every inch of a mile. There are question marks over stable mate Caipirinha and whether or not she will see out the trip but looks as though on paper she will get things all her own way out in front if that's the way Azzopardi wants to ride her. Burgess Queen winner Ellicazoom has come back in sensational order and definitely looks the one to beat. I would suggest backing her in the Kingston Town Classic if you're a fan of Ellicazoom because a 3 year old filly carrying 50kg in the Group 1 Feature is a recipe for cash.

    3. ROYAL MISSILE - 4. ELLICAZOOM - 1. CAIPIRINHA

    SUGGESTED BET - 3. ROYAL MISSILE $50 x $50

    R6. R.j. Peters Stakes - Scott Embry

Really think that Showy Chloe can record a second Group success here for trainer Jason Pateman. Her run in the Asian Beau was awesome, caught three wide without cover for the entire race before ultimately fading to run a very respectable fifth. From barrier 5 she should be able to position perfectly, hopefully, one out and one back in fourth position, enjoy the economical run and peel out around the corner. At around $8 eachway I think she will give backers a great run for their money. Scales of Justice jumps from 72+ grade into a Group race and there were no shortage of supporters as soon as markets went up with almost every single corporate plunged from $3.50 into $2.60. We finally get to see whether or not he can match it at Black Type level. Respondent simply looks a new horse in the Fred Kersely yard and looks an astute purchase by regular PTT forum contributer, bloodstock agent and freelance photographer Damien Wyer. Arguably should have won last start and goes very close again here. Heart Starter has it all against him with 59kg, dealt a bitter 13 rating points blow by the handicapper after successfully making the transition from a Bunbury 78+ into Group company.

    11. SHOWY CHLOE - 10. SCALES OF JUSTICE - 5. RESPONDENT

    SUGGESTED BET - 11. SHOWY CHLOE $50 x $50

    R7. Heineken-colonel Reeves Stakes - Scott Embry

I was a big sceptic of Vega Magic first-up over 1000m in the Group 3 Prince of Wales Stakes and almost as expected he could not find the lead and from there was a horror film for anyone who jumped aboard the favourites bangwagon. This race looks much more suitable and from barrier 6 I expect him to sit outside the Military Reign who will almost certainly fly the gates and lead. From there they control the pace of the race and I'm now going with Vega Magic. He should be conceeding 7kg to Rock Magic on a pure ratings weight scale but this set weights and penalties race is much more in his favour than weight for age first-up. Did not like him first-up, Do like him second-up. First Among Equals was caught in a 5pm Kwinana Freeway traffic jam first-up and effectively never took part in the race. He looks as though he will be right in the middle of horses again so here's hoping the Pontiff can get himself out into clear running. Rock Magic tracking up three wide with cover has to be respected and probably goes round over the odds yet again at the $10 mark. Bourne Supremacy and Military Reign next best.

    6. VEGA MAGIC - 1. ROCK MAGIC - 2. FIRST AMONG EQUALS

    SUGGESTED BET - 6. VEGA MAGIC $100

R8. Evoke Media-ascot Gold Cup - Scott Embry

Chocolate Holic is in the exact same boat as State Solicitor. If he is going to get rolled this preparation in a race which isn't a Feature event then it will be on Saturday. He rises a massive 4kg to carry 58 and loses the services of W.Pike, however, his win in the Northam Cup was effortless. I got the absolute pleasure and privilege to interview Sir/Lord/King Pike after the victory for Sky Thoroughbred Central and in his word 'he pricked his ears up and away we went, the horse really enjoyed that one'. Chocolate Holic looks to be going from strength to strength and potentially has a throw at the stumps in the Kingston Town or if he successfully strides out to 1800m there must be a Cups campaign temptation for Grant and Alana Williams who bred this horse themselves, a true family horse. Dark Alert was caught wide throughout first-up at a mile and can improve sharply to be the danger. Both Young Lionel and Tonto had hard luck stories to tell in the Northam Cup and with weight swings on Chocolate Holic will have admirers.

    3. CHOCOLATE HOLIC - 8. DARK ALERT - 13. TONTO

    SUGGESTED BET - 3. CHOCOLATE HOLIC $100

Don't mind Who's To Blame in R2 at big odds. She copped a check at the start last run and was blocked hard from the 150m mark. She wants longer but had a small go @ 41/8 on PUNTA.

Providing Tan doesn't butcher it. He's like a roller coaster that kid. Has put in some good rides to boot home nice priced winners but can also put in the horrid rides.

3rd on the fence, the run came but it was going faster than the horse. The leader rolled off the fence and the frenchie laying in, he got the squeeze box. Hardly Paddys fault
Does that Frenchie ever go straight?
