Stewards Salary

West Australian Racing
Out of interest lads what would a run of the mill steward be getting paid? I'd assume it's a salary position.

    Hardly a plum job.

Terrible working hours, extended car travel, very restricted social life and nearly everyone dislikes you

Not sure what "run of the mill" steward means but RWWA`s last report has 8 employees over 100k, pretty sure none are "run of the mill" stewards.

Im pretty sure a trainee steward was in the vicinity of 60k so full fledged would be 80-90 i would say. Its a tough gig, working Saturdays etc. i did think about it and considered it a few times but the punt won out in the end. Opportunity to earn alot more if you got the relevant expierience and moved to honkers or sing etc

I'm surprised by that FM...I thought run of the mill would be in the 90-100k+ mark and the top fellows around what Falcon suggested. But if there are only 8 staff at RWWA over 100k, then none of them would be your race day stewards......
I had a discussion a while back with one of them and they said that with travel time and time in lieu it isn't unusual to actually only be working 3 days, some weeks.. So maybe there are some conditions that are a trade off for an average salary!?!?!?

Not your head stipe but not your cadet either. Aka run of the mill.

Couldn't possibly see it being in Falcons ball park, essentially it's a cert3 or lower style job if the cadetship is only 2 yrs.

    Look in the mirror falc....

  • I think there is a lot of variables lads? Looking at the Stewards Reports there are Cadets, Stewards, Senior Stewards, Deputy Chairman, Chairman, Investigators and Form Analysts. Obviously these would be all different levels and therefore different salaries. Time in service, experience and ability would also be factors. I am also led to believe the three different codes have different pay levels for similar positions which is fair I guess considering a Greyhound Steward would never have to suspend jocks/drivers or decide a protest. I am thinking $50k-$150k would cover 99% of the panel? Someone like a Terry Bailey would be $250k-$300k you would expect?

If you are paying Receptionists that much you will be going broke sometime, UNLESS they look like this then you will be going broke happy.

If you're still hiring receptionists you will be going broke.
    So 'Mad Men' (old fashioned).

Well, other than high traffic places like medical practices.
