Perth Racing get your act together

West Australian Racing
Perth Racing get your act together, the last few weeks, after the last race, people have the marathon walk to exit the course, then the long quit queuing up for a taxi, where there is no organisation,it's a joke, then when waiting no shelter,so people are getting absolutely drenched,PR get it sorted, you are so behind at ever getting this revamp of Belmont, which I don't think will ever happen.

To say they are hopeless would be giving them credit, quite amazed at how many people actually braved the marathon (walk to the races) yesterday.

Last season or the season before they had a golf cart that took you to the entrance. Was wondering if the heavy machinery working behind tie up area has been upsetting horses .

And even our renowned journalist Ernie manning  has to park there and drag his bag the 500m to the gate.  Boing Ernie there is probably a typewriter in the bag

And how about the leaks all throughout the ‘grandstand’

Probs can’t afford to put a cover near the taxi rank as no budget after they pay the ceo and all the security guards car park attendants gate attendants bag checkers and cleaners who are on the gravy train

what a waste all that is Sometimes the staff outnumber the patrons on a wednesday

    What about the stylish entrance

And if u are coming from the Optus stadium end it’s an extra 300m walk then the marathon back no entry behind the “grandstand’

According to the developers latest media release a couple of weeks ago, the current timeline on the first tower is ten years away. As you may have heard me say in the past, this project is a 30 year plan at best.

A lot of the area that you guys mention in comments however, is still on title owned by the WATC or Perth Racing. They did get $50M in the land sale, so in reality there is no excuse for the ongoing issues.

Perhaps they are holding back funds for the eventual bronze statue to immortalise the Father of all things racing in Perth, Ted Van Heemst ??

Maybe they are spending what’s left on purple pens that don’t work and obsolete tab tickets that are only useful for using as either drink coasters or making a shopping list as blank on the back

    The Entrance is a disgrace,
The Members Carpark is terrible, Way to small and fills up early ,
Lot's of Non member's park in there all the time ,
Used to be 2 Golf carts to transport people but now only 1 ?
Also they are no where to be seen after the Last ?
Many people are not attending due to the Above ,
    It's Not rocket Science ,

All comes down to lack of money to do what’s needed, simply stop printing obsolete tab tickets and halve the number of gate attendants and security staff and guess what after a few weeks can start repairing some of the things that need attention

Think it may need a bit more tipped into than what some gate attendants and security Staff earnings will save them Brownbread

money? what happened to the 50 million?
  • BrownbreadBrownbread    58 posts
When you pay the boss 800 k per year for 10 years since that gets rid of 8 mill then if your casual wage bill is 10 k a week in excess of what it should be we get rid of another 5 mill so there’s 13 mill of it
  • BrownbreadBrownbread    58 posts
Not to mention all the extras like the extra food ordered each Wednesday that gets left over and then taken back to ascot offices for thursdays Lunch add the purple pen contract and the obsolete tab tickets they keep ordering and you soon see why 50 mill is gone

It seems there is a gravy train culture with everyone hanging off it taking what they can get.
It will be interesting when the tab sale is finalised and the gravy train is put out to pasture.
I hear that the fixed odds side of the business is already being run by one of the corporates. Anyone else heard the same

Certainly the fixed odds Golf markets must be done by a third party. As to the rest of the sports I don't know. You can bet to 2 decimal places in fixed odds golf, whereas you can't do that for the racing

The issues in the public area are well documented. The stable area is also a nightmare, after off loading the horse you have to take the float to another car park down the bottom, then the same in reverse after the race. Before the race we take a hike to the other end of the course to get the saddle from the jockeys room, if the girth is the wrong size , another hike to the other end of the course and back is required ( At least its keeping us fit) In the stable area there is not so much as a kettle let alone somewhere to buy a pie. I Could go on and on about the issues taking horses there. And to top it off there is an electrical plugging point in every stall, yes every stall, and nobody knows why they are there( amagine what they payed to have them installed) the joke down there is that its to plug in your jigger
  • spinkingspinking    4,001 posts
Shothru. how does the heavy machinery working behind the stall area affect horses tied up there?. Or do they not operate in that area on raceday?

Wouldn't hurt to add a general / family / kids drop off zone.
We've stopped attending completely as it's just too exhausting rounding up 3 x > 4yo's from far end of carpark, in to the course, chasing them around and then repeating the march back out ot yonder.

TBH could possibly just drive to the entrance (ignore the protestations on the CPA's), but doesn't start the day off in a good mood.

Shothru thanks for letting us know of the overspend on the electrical plugs will add the cost to the 13 mill that we have located as money wasted of the 50 mill they got for the land sold 10 years ago.

Shotthru I reckon the electrical contractor recommended the installation of the 200 extra power points as he had a new apprentice that needed practice at doing these so who better to pay than perth racing

Have to agree with the comments on the long walk to get in. Pretty crap setup even for able people, let alone someone who isn't as mobile.

The guys working at the back have been pretty good when asked to stop, mainly trial days and Mid week meetings
