Just a question i would like cleared up this one is to glen smith on our larrikin DO U KNOW HOW FAST U ARE GOING IN RACES.Yes i know u had a wide gate ect ect but i have to tell u from a punters point of view week in week out and u run clearly the best closing sectionals of the race and u go 15 wide on home turn so wide u could get a pie over fence and run a fast closing 4th at great odds which said punter is on each way it tends to drive us up wall after a few hours of form study as u only were going 12secs for first half of race y is it u were back so far that u give horse no hope are u just not trying or dont understand race pace. From were i am sitting said punter just is wondering it just happens so much as u are said to be professional riders i would have thought u know how quick u were going.U see from were said punter sits your margins for error seem to be out so far all the time that i struggle to understand maybe a few jocks can clear things up thanks. As i know u all get payed but us punters get zip so when u feel u are on best horse and u done work to find it i think its a fair question dont u.

my old man was a jockey in europe in the 70's, whenever i had a whinge about a ride he would tell me " boy if u think you could do a better job do the hard yards and become a jockey or stop moaning about it" i personally dont rate him which is why he wont be riding any of mine but im not going to string him up for a bad ride because i know i couldn't do his job.....

You shouldn't be punting, you clearly can't see through the sea of shit you speak...

If you are all ears- now hear this.....

-The horse was slowly away from an outside gate.
-It doesn't sit on the pace in the vast majority of races.
-If it is on-pace, it is because it is racing over more ground than today (and in lesser-class races than today).
-Since it was slow away it can't just zoom around the outside to take up a gun position or it will drop out at the finish.
-It doesn't usually measure up in todays class of field. You say you backed it today. Confirms that you are not top shelf in the form analysis stakes.
-Riding a racehorse in a race is not a computer game- you need to make split-second decisions and quite often 'plan A' doesn't eventuate.
    -You are a pest.
-I think you might be related to Sam Newman.

THE WORD ASS LICKER COMES TO MIND ABOUT U NEVER SHOWSURPRISE BIGTIME.
  • I do speed maps for every wa race and it was highly likely the horse would settle where it did.

Agree with BC Our Larrikan always sits rear end of the field you only have to look at previous runs to no that

I must remember to put in a space after each full stop.

Yes i dont disagree with your comments della my point is when u can run a sectional like that late and u are going that slow first half y not let horse slide into race wide he went 10 wide on bend anyway why not just let go a bit more early and slide up closer thats my point. They just give horse no hope from were he is in the run thats all.The thing people dont seem to get is if u are going that slow in first half of race it does not matter if u creep into race wide the point is u are not going fast enough for it to matter. What he should have been more worried about is giving horse to much ground to make up the sectionals clearly state this morning what i thought after race they dont lie.
  • AND MY POINT IS - YOU CANNOT BET ON WHAT THE JOCKEY SHOULD DO - YOU CAN ONLY BET ON WHAT YOU EXPECT THE JOCKEY WILL DO

YOU NEED TO FACTOR IN THE RUN THE HORSE IS GOING TO HAVE AND THE LIKELIHOOD THE JOCKEY WILL MAKE ERRORS

EVERYONE KNOWS JOCKEYS MAKE MISTAKES AND THAT IS A LOT MORE LIKELY ON A BACKMARKER

in the overall scheme of things the ride Glenn Smith gave the horse was totally expected

What about ride on mable grace what was that in a small field.
  • that was worthy of criticism because the horse was positioned in a totally unexpected position

im in BC's court here. Our Larrikin was never going to be anywhere else but well back, drawn that gate. You could also have predicted he's be flashing home into 4th or 5th with an eye catching run. Thats the kind of horse he is and you'll probably go broke backing him.

Mabel Grace should have been leading, no doubt. for whatever reason, he didnt, but Paterson's biggest mistake was moving back to the fence when he was third behind the leaders.....that was plain suicide. Im sure, being a kid, he'll learn a lot from that mistake. Im sure Adam doesnt like losing races like that......it was a walk up, all he had to do was get to the front. He'll no doubt mentor Paterson on where he went wrong.

the stewards report explains that bit a little, he only really in his first season of riding and I reckon the pressure would be bigger when these young kids ride things that are just supposed to win. He bounced back later in the day.

I should've mentioned that this comment is general and not made with any direct reference to rides discussed

Knew I was doing something wrong...so how do we know what the jockey will do?
You would hope that he or she gives it a hope of winning(no reference to a particular race)

We all knew where Caves would be in tne run. I was happy to take the 7/2 because i genuinely thought this would be the prep it takes a prominent step, and thought we could pinch a price first up.
If it was 1400, it wins going away and youre vindicated. Unfortunately your just not going to get the price in similar company next few starts i wouldnt have thought, its finish backs up szme, though absolutely nothing wrong with the ride given normal patterns and no, im not privvy to whatever potential instructions were issued by its connections

when durrant was interviewed after the last when paterson won on texan, he said it was good for benny after having no luck earlier in the day (rather than a bad ride)....perhaps the young bloke was given instructions to take a sit, cant imagine why but maybe....im sure stearing mable grace to the rails was never the instruction tho. :(

Benjo rode some very poor races on Satdy but he is a young kid and lets hope he can improve.
