Willie White fined $750 for using the whip in a forehand manner 5 additional times
and 8 consecutive occasions prior to the 100m
Believe this horse would not have won but for the strong vigour shown ?

Got fined more than his 5% rider stake which seems a little harsh, agree the horse would not have won with out his vigour.

He has a couple of good rides this month with Trading Day looking towards the Guineas, Starfiled Image the Jungle Mist and Justine Erklens giving him rides on handy horses.

Hopefully he can start stringing a few wins together.

Is Shaun O'Donnell not Erkelens main man anymore? They had some good results not that long ago.

Is a pretty stiff fine for sure. That is his first offence as far as I know.

Would have to be the dumbest rule in the history of the world, utterly ridiculous. Would love to know who the morons are that come up with it.

Willie is riding well though, his confidence is growing as he gets on some better horses.

Interesting to read in the stewards report that DRM was fined $300, for overuse of whip in forward motion in the cup. "WHIP RULE BREACH AND FINE:
Race 6. Jockey Danny Miller (THE MOON DAY) $300 ARR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip in a
forehand manner on five additional occasions than permitted prior to the 100m."

So my question, does this action and a small fine make the difference between him winning the race or losing it, by giving the horse five wacks the runner up does not get, because that rider played by the rules?.

I asked this question in another thread, similar situation with DRM, and is it fair that a rider breaches the rules be it unintentional or intentional and makes the difference of a win or a lost. Is this fair on punters etc, as the rider can say fuk it I'm prepared to risk a $500 fine to make sure this wins. To me this is a serious breach of the law if there action is intentional.

Regardless of we agree or disagree with the rule, if it is in place it must be abided.

I believe the horse wasn't going to win until he put the whip away, if you watch closely he was hitting the horse so quick he was actually hitting him out of stride.

Didn't Knuckey get fined $500 for overuse of the whip getting Big Attitude to win and then about two days later gets
fined $100 for overuse of the whip at Northam?
Seems crazy that for a repeat offence you get fined a lesser amount, especially when you see some not so high profile Jockeys getting $1500 fines for whip use breaches!

I think is Piston is dead right here--also thought the horse only really picked up in the last 50 when he stopped with the whip and concentrated on getting the horse balanced and giving his all....reckon the biggest fines should be for horses out of contention getting too much whip not for horses in a tight finish.

Well P Harvey is safe then lol lol if Ponty doesnt think he can win he generally sits up at the 400m and enjoys the ride home
