outside Moudre & Lloyd's pair, MM is in this up to his eyeballs.. $3.20ish for Sea Moon will no doubt open up fav and MM somewhere under double figures
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,482 posts

11 of the 17 runners are european, plus on kiwi....what odds one of them wins?

IF sea moons starts, no way MM can beat it with only 2.5kg concession...imvho.

The Moody horse has been tracking along nicely, may sneak under the radar here with only 54.5kg. Mr Moet has bee the story of "He will get the next race" in every start. Their riding tactics seems to change every week. I hope he does well but im not keen after recent runs.

First run for my MC selection, Simenon, hopefully he has aclimatised to the aussie conditions.

This might be too short for him though - needs the 2 miles!

My information is that Mr Moet still working really well. Hasnt really been suited at any of his runs. Was never really going to be suited at the Valley but needed the run there.
This week should be much more to his liking.

Moudre has been poor his last two starts, he is becoming a wallet burner (if he wasn't already).

When you get beaten home by Talent Show, you ain't got much left.  Sea Moon and co, were making lengths on him at the end of last weeks race!

Think they'd get a better field if they made it an automatic entry race.

If the Lexus is good enough to be exemption free, this race should be!

    Exempt races:
    VRC Lexus Stakes
    VRC Victoria Derby
    VRC Mackinnon Stakes
    MVRC Cox Plate
    MRC Caulfield Cup
    Irish St Leger
    Tenno Sho (Japan)

Not sure if people knew this but the winner of the Herbert Power Stakes is not only guaranteed a start in the Caulfield Cup and exempt from the Caulfield Cup order of entry/ballot but also (and this is the good bit), the winner of the Herbert Power CAN NOT GET A PENALTY (EXTRA WEIGHT) for the Caulfield Cup. This is where that uniqueness comes into the Herbert Power and it's alignment to the Caulfield Cup.

However, who ever wins the Herbert Power can be liable for a penalty (extra weight) for the Melbourne Cup at the handicappers discretion.

FACT: The last horse to do the Herbert Power Stakes/Melbourne Cup double was WA's Rogan Josh in 1999. He also won the Mackinnon in between these two races. Rogan Josh dropped 3kg, from the Herbert Power to the Melbourne Cup.

maybe so but did not help SHAWARDI last year to get a start in the MC - this race should be ballot exempt race for the Melb Cup

Great performance by Sea Moon - great staying performance. Won with the 59.5kg - the highest winning weight in the Herbert Power in 50 years apparently.

Which races are you trying to download?

Realplayer has a function called 'realdownloader' which can record/capture videos from streaming sites like Youtube etc.  Other option for downloading youtube videos, is to use a site called clipconverter.cc - they allow ripping of videos from youtube also.

I will have another try at recording by following your instructions.
