R1. Seacorp 2yo Plate - Scott Embry
Paul Jordan's 2 year olds are generally jump and run types and that's exactly what Peter Perfect will be looking to do. Jump well, cross the favourite and find the rail. His trial was excellent, leading from start to finish in a very slick time and with blinkers added to racing gear I think he can start his career with a bang. A $31 000 yearling purchase he is a half brother to Brocky's Deal who won on debut as a 2 year old back in 2012. Fremond deserves to start favourite after an impressive first-up win coming from last. Has experience on his side but if he is slow away again then the inside barrier can be a curse as it was for Luckystreet last week. I think Luckystreet can improve sharply after being galloped on when a rails run almost presented and eased down by the Pontiff, his run was much better than it reads on paper. Bought for $75 000 he is a half to Neville Parnhams grand old gelding Secret Enigma. Tworeen was impressive on debut and with a 2kg weight advantage over the favourite can certainly play a part as well.

This Cat Rocks, a $250 000 graduate of the Inglis Easter yearing sales formerly with David Hayes has found himself in the care of Justin Warwick. Since stepping up to 2000m+ he has finished in the money at 5 from 6 starts culminating in a victory in the Busselton Cup at the opening Bunbury meeting last Sunday. Looks as though he can go on with it here and will appreciate every inch of 2200m. The Pontiff remains in the saddle and he will either lead or box seat. Raising Dubai is the obvious danger, winner at his past 2 but has never carried more than 58kg to victory and his Ascot record is only modest. Beat Bonny Zara at his most recent and the money certainly came for her last weekend so the form should hold up nicely. Happy to throw Toned in for third as a blowout hope. Beat Raising Dubai by a nose on November 27th last year and meets him 2kg better at the weights this time in. Beat him again by over 4 lengths on December 14th and again gains a 1kg advantage over him. $31 looks over the odds for a horse who has beaten the favourite at their two previous encounters and takes weight off him.
3. THIS CAT ROCKS - 1. RAISING DUBAI - 2. TONED

Vital Edition has produced two most impressive victories in midweek company this campaign, generally sitting 3 deep without cover from atleast the 800m and second-up was 3 deep the journey and still too strong. His last victory was excellent and form surrounding his win has been formidable, Low Tide who finsihed 5th won last Saturday, Savanarola who finished 6th ran 3rd to Low Tide and Young Lionel who finished 2nd has since run 3rd to race 2 favourite Raising Dubai. Mac It Is ran 3rd and looks to have genuine eachway claims in the following race. 56.5kg should be perfect, barrier 3 is a beautiful draw and a small field should suit him down to the ground. Along with Barakey looks a real banking bet. Dubai Escapade will derive benefit from his first-up run after a months freshen up. Will be looking for further but should be running into the placings. Ye Olde is more than capable of winning at his best but he is racing well below that currently, looking for improvement with a return to Ascot.
5. VITAL EDITION - 1. DUBAI ESCAPADE - 3. YE OLDE

By race 4 the track bias should be disclosed, on Wednesday it was clearly favouring leaders and if that's the case again on Saturday then probably Oakhurst Flyer and Mac It Is will dominate this race however, if the track is playing fairly then I think Antique Belle can run over the top of them. In my opinion Antique Belle's last start chasing Kheleva and attempting to hold out Real Love for second placing is a lot stronger than Oakhurst Flyer holding off Chilly Reception and Pants on Friar. If the track isn't overly leader bias then I will be aboard Antique Belle. Oakhurst Flyer should find the lead and roll along while Mac It Is will likely make a customary mid-race move when Warwick attempts to throw out the anchor. Hopefully they run along out in front and the race opens up for Antique Belle who has been screaming out for 16-1800m. The Alleged is racing extremely well and notched his first placing at his 11th career Ascot race last weekend.
7. ANTIQUE BELLE - 9. OAKHURST FLYER - 8. MAC IT IS

West Africa joins the WA stables of Chris Gangemi as another of his Eastern Imports, originally a $350 000 Inglis purchase, he begun his career with Mark Kavanagh recording a 9 length debut victory at Kilmore. Last start was on Geelong Synthetic when victorious as a $3 favourite and has had 67 days between runs. Immediate support at the $6 mark suggests he will be primed for a first-up WA assault. Both Windswept and Rock Magic quickly hit their straps for Gangemi so expecting a bold showing from the newcomer. Dawn Approach returns and has the speed to hold out West Africa and lead, boasts minor placings to Chinetti and Benito as well as victories over some very handy types, namely Black Heart Bart, WATC Derby winner Respondent and talented gelding Kheleva. Certainly a genuine danger. August Knight won first-up and second-up at Ascot last preparation and does possess an electric finish when saved for a late burst. Cracking little sprint.

The question on everyones mind is, can Shengmu hold off a charging Silver Magic Ships late in the race? Both fillies have their first race at Ascot and Fath filly Shengmu, winner at 4 from 6, must carry 3kg more than Sebring filly Silver Magic Ships, however, I feel that over 1100m she will be able to hold her off. No doubt Silver Magic Ships will be flying and is headed towards a crack at the Champion Fillies and Guineas but 1100m is my major concern. She was backed heavily over 1200m when able to get the job done but needed the full 1200m and a gun ride from the Pontiff. Obviously Harvey can't make 54kg so Pike jumps aboard but I think she will conceed Shengmu too many lengths. Those two should run a popular quinella. Shengmu for me to lead from start to finish. Cuanzo ran a cracker in the Belgravia after finding market support, awkwardly drawn in barrier 10 but has class about him. Django was a gun 2 year old whose two victories have both been on this track.

Barakey is WA's favourite son and our states Sprint King. Winner at 13 from 15 starts the son of Key Business has made in excess of $800 000 in stakes money. Victor at 6 of his 7 Ascot starts with his only failure in the Winterbottom to Eastern States Superstar Buffering. Showed he is all class after sitting outside Smoko first-up over 1300m and giving him a galloping lesson. Pure class and should have this race all bundled up at the luxurious Weight-For-Age conditions carrying a mere 58.5kg and drawn beautifully in barrier 4. For many the $1.60 will be a highly attractive proposition. Stablemate Magnifisio will be looking to give Jim Taylor the quinella and looks perfectly placed to do so. Amorino, Checkpoint and Elite Belle will all be chasing hard late but appear to be racing for minor end prize money. Great to see the King back fit and healthy.

At around the $7 mark I'm happy to be aboard Lucy Warwick and Wild Charger to close out the second Saturday Ascot meet. He has been in excellent form this preparation with a fast finishing third to talented due Son of Something and Thateldo as well as an emphatic last to first over On the Ropes with Bippo No Bungus 3.5 lengths behind him in 7th. Struggled when supported in the Hannans Handicap at Kalgoorlie when racing wide throughout and then far from disgraced 2 lengths fourth to Miss Rose De Lago and Wroughted. 5 time winner over 1200m I think he can run a big race in the weekly Get Out Stakes. For second I'm going to throw up a maddy in The Entourage, has never won beyond 1100m, only 2 wins from 27 starts at Ascot, 11 starts over 1200m without a victory and his last visit to the winners enclosure was 1099 days ago in October 2011, however, I thought his last start effort behind Recode was a cracker and he meets Tiger Pete 4.5kg better at the weights having beaten him home. Should be able to cross to the fence and run a cheeky one at big odds. High Limit loves Ascot as does Fiddler's Elbow and expect them to be mowing turf late.
