MORE WA JOCKEYS AND TRAINERS DURING 1950S-1970S
West Australian RacingThanks for this forum for providing me with assistance in
relation my query pertaining to WA Jockeys & Trainers for the period
1950-1970s. I really do appreciate your assistance. I’m undertaking a project
of creating a database of stakes and principal races for Australia. Currently
I’m working on Western Australia. As you note I’m very keen to include the Christian
names of both jockeys and trainers in my records. This is because in the old
days they didn’t get the re-cognisation that should have
As you can imagine the
scope of my query can be somewhat extensive, but any assistance will be
extremely grateful. It is very difficult to obtain details pertaining to
trainers during the period 1954-1978. You may or may not be aware that the ATR
didn’t include the trainers’ names prior to its 1978 edition except for some of
its principal races!!(It’s hard to believe) These being the Perth Cup and WA Derby.
Generally, you need
to refer to race-books or local newspapers which are often only available in
the State they are printed. I have been
to Vic State Library and they don’t carry any newspapers for WA. I actually lodged my original query to see if
I could obtain some response. Now I know you are out there I hope you don’t mind if I forwarding some additional queries .Here’s
hoping you enjoy the trip down memory lane with some of these horses.
Again, I would like
to re-iterate my gratitude to this forum for its assistance.

:-?
He is still going strong and training winners.
He has written a book that will have a lot of so called highly regarded officials ducking for cover.
