The chris lewis double
Let the favourite roll to the top and see who can finish in the placings.

They've got to do more to handicap the good horses/get them drawing wide to spark a bit of interest, just doing the replays now and its like i'm watching the same race over and over!
The camber they have put on the track has done absolutely nothing for the horses out wide, if anything it has made it worse. When you hit that very last part of the bend in to the straight I reckon you lose a minimum of one length per horse you are of the rail. 5 horses out you are losing 5 lengths. There was a race with 350m to go ever horse was still in their position, looked like they still had a lap to go!
Glad to see The Parade do what she did, always thought she was the best of her group of fillies soming through. Again the non competitive early so of course it was non competitive late.

Albany or GP....the first 7 favs won at GP, the last 3 got rolled, down at Albany it was carnage for C D Burch and AF DeCampo....yet she still trained a double.....Aidens most enjoyable drive might be the one back to Bunbury this morning.
It helps when the driver is actually trying to win, that helps a little bit :D
The two previous drives on the horse were ordinary at best.

I'm fine with horses handing up to do their best to earn, I just want to make it harder for the horse that horse to get around there!
I also would like to see one win from the back occasionally but I fear the days of that happening are gone.
It was just another smart drive from n turvey.

On another note how mouth watering is the Miracle Mile going to be in a couple of weeks. The runs tonight from Have Faith In Me & Arms Of An Angel were astonishing, Monifieth flew home to nab Bling It On & MHC whilst Beautide & Lenny just did as they do having a leisurely stroll in slick time.
The Chariots was fantastic....Have Faith In Me runs 1.48.8 after not the easiest run but what did Arms of Angel come home in....had to be sub 26 second quarter. Maybe Adore Me's record won't last that long after all. For breeding students, Macca Kelly and Frith have such great pedigrees and race accordingly ....and Beautide...well he just strolled around doing what Beautide does. Miracle Mile should be something special.

I had a small investment on elegant christian and I say small because I wasn't sure if he would go back at the start, push forward to the death, or find his way to the front. That's what made it such a good betting race and a wide open market.
Once Lewis got to the death so easily and quickly, he put the acid on turvey and he had no choice but to hand up. If we all had of known that was going to happen well of course EG would have been odds on. But that is exactly my point......no one knew how that race would be run, hence the wide open market.
If 9 out of the 10 races on a friday night were like that I'm pretty sure turnover would go up immediately.

Elegant christian had showed good early speed at his previous couple of starts though, so no total surprise to see him work his way to the front.
Over the last 6-12 months though i've been finding it so much bloody harder as it has become less about what the horse is capable of and more about what the driver wants to do. The horse from down your way Mon Lillies over the last few weeks is a perfect example, DEG keeping holding up on Moonlight Rockhole or Elegant Christian. Like I said I thought his gate speed had been great this time in BUT it has only been in glympses as there had always been another runner also showing gate speed that the driver on EC didnt want to work too hard, different driver on I think we would have seen a different racing pattern. EC probably should always be looking to push for the top as we've seen from the stands he can do the work and is a superior horse when finding the front but it depends on who the connections are of the horses it is going to be pressuring if it goes forward as to wether it will do it or not. If we could get Chris Lewis to drive every horse in every race it would be great!
So instead of having my usual main bets and then something small every race and kicking back I had one bet friday night on Muscle Torque at $1.70 so a 70% profit but all over by race1. Is that what I want from my friday night racing entertainment? Not really! Then we have a meeting at head quarters on sat and I cant even be bothered having a bet because like you i'm just not confident in what I think is going to happen out there, I felt like I was having to force it looking for something at a price I'd be happy to play at.
I know that this is partly because my interest has waned so i'm just not over the form as well as I once was but there is more to it than that, chicken or the egg if you know what I mean.

$16 fixed beats $1.50 beats $21 chance.
pays $82.70 I thought it would pay 4 to 5 times that. Or they used to.
