Handicapping System????

Harness & Greyhounds
Just going back to Beat The Heat and the Filardos. It wins a  $7000 C0/C1 at GP at its last start on Tuesday and tonight it goes around in a $3000  R0/R1 at Northam...field selected in reverse order.....and draws barrier 1. I mean good luck to them, I hope it wins again, it's a handicapping special as such. Now if I owned any of the other horses in that race......and good luck to all the connections because with respect, there isn't a lot of ability amongst them...but if I did, I would be spewing that we have a system that allows Beat The Heat to even be in the race. It's not a handicapping system, it's a bizarre game of being able to take advantage of the system and manipulate your chances, repeating, good luck to the Filardos, they have done nothing wrong. Anyone keen on the $1.30 fixed on offer Beat The Heat???

Fields for tonight were done Friday due To Public Holiday, so why it drew one as still accessed as a R0 then

I believe that the rule is if a win affects eligibility for a race the horse is scratched.

If the horse is still eligible barrier draws do not change.

That is just plain embarrassing for the sport of harness racing. Can you imagine a horse winning the Victoria derby in the gallops and then starting in a maiden at ballarat the next week?

That argument has been falling on deaf ears for 40 years or more and the participants don't seem to have a problem with it.

Beaudiene Boaz, at its 2nd start after winning the WA Derby, having already won 13 races and over $400k in prize money started in an MO only at GP.....Unsurprisingly, it won. And you could spend all night here coming up with example after ridiculous example. I understand the reasoning behind Beat The Heats situation and the barrier draw not changing in spite of the pre advertised conditions of the race but it doesn't make it right.

Well it didn't even finish the race tonight so no problems in that regard

No, it would have taken an extremely special conditioning effort as it raced Tuesday, 44 degrees yesterday and then it has to front up tonight ...vets exam before and after, broke twice ?? If I was the horse, I would have jacked up as well. In spite of the handicap concessions, $1.60 was just not on given the back up.
My Papa Bear won with a leg in the air....very, very impressive. It can do a lot wrong but can run a bit.....and Auctioneers Elsu earns yet another cheque.

I know nothing about him as well but it's great to see a new trainer in the ranks who can do a job with cheap cast offs. He is putting good drivers on his horses and placing them where they can be competitive.

Good luck to him, long may it continue. Let's hope we see more like him in the future.
