    Anyone who plays down drug use is a fool. Look at the hold drugs have on the hapless victims. They just can't stay away from them. What a waste.

    In the world nobody owes anybody anything BUT could racing give him a path to recovery.

    You can ride track work, you will be tested every day before track work, when you have gone 6-8 months of negative testing you can return to race riding?

    Help him work through his issue rather than just cut him aside.

    @Gilgamesh I reckon he's run his last race mate. He's had ample opportunity and I'd suggest that he would have been given a fair degree of help from RWWA or PR.
    Not to mention that he has (allegedly) been caught trying to cheat the drug testing... not exactly a minor indiscretion.

    So sad drugs in the racing industry, I can think of many in the same situation.
    Scourge on society.
    Has ruined so many people in business and high end positions.

    I sometimes get the brothers indiscretions mixed up, as in who has done what. The fact he was caught deliberately avoiding the test is a far worse charge than actually testing positive.

    Cant see him riding again. An personally think he should be warned off all licensed premises. including race tracks for a period of time.

    And if he gives a shit about his life going forward he needs to want to quit and go to rehab etc.

    I've seen unemployed ice junkies with young kids up close and personal, drugs don't discriminate they are just despicable, there are no excuses but some have a real reason they started(abuse etc)

    A multitude of jockeys not enticed into the drug infused world will never have the chance and opportunities he had. 

    Yes I expect fierce criticism for this comment but as someone whose family was greatly infected and in ways decimated by a drug user of this kind I have no qualm in saying F*** Off from the industry

    Rio he wasn’t cuaght trying to avoid the test but a lot worse than that. He was caught substituting the sample so he knew or was thinking there was a big chance his sample would be positive. He has tried to pull the wool over their eyes and has been caught in the act. Silly boy

    Very sad. Not just his stupidity, but the fact that the drugs have got such a hold on him that he has lost his career over them.

    It's a world wide issue, none more so than in the USA. Because of the open border policies of the Biden Government, and no, I don't want to get into a political debate, I'm just stating the facts as they are, Fentanyl by the kilos is being sent from China to the Mexican cartels, and being smuggled virtually unchecked by the cartels, into the USA. 

    In 2021, more than 100,000 people died from Fentanyl overdoses in the USA. 

    Just to let you know how insidious the drug is, my wife suffers from severe abdominal pain due to Crone's disease. She was put on 25 milligrams of Fentanyl, wearing a patch on her arm, to help with the pain. It did for a while, but eventually, it wasn't enough and the dose was doubled. 

    When that didn't do the job, she decided that she didn't want to go higher because she felt that  she was becoming too dependant on the drug, and she was going to need more and more to ease the pain. 

    So she went in another direction. Medical marijuana.It has been a life saver. One or two drops under the tongue, pain eases within 10 minutes, gone in half an hour, and my wife has become fully functional. the fentanyl had her bed ridden for much of the day. It doesn't work for everyone, she happens to be one of the lucky ones.

    But here is the kicker. It has taken her a month to wean herself off the Fentanyl, and for the cravings for that drug, to completely leave her system. Fortunately for my wife, she had the will power to say to her GP, no more, I'd rather suffer the pain than become totally addicted to Fentanyl. Not many can. He recommended the alternative, and thank God, it works, and is not addictive, she only uses it when necessary.

    I hate to think, what Ben Kennedy has been using, but it would have to be something more powerful than  the Fentanyl patch that my wife was using, and, based on her experience,  I can understand the pull that the drugs have on those who choose to use them outside of  prescribed medical supervision.

    A drug user of “his kind” you don’t even know his situation or what he was doing/using
    I understand the topic is a sensitive one for you as mentioned you can’t compare him or use that line - drug user of “his kind” sorry slip you’re way off the mark there

    "you don't even know his situation"..bit off the mark, hash. most know he had rent free accomodation at durrants, a girlfriend, the support of many trainers and was fortunate enough to ride quite a few winners since his return.
    one would think that situation alone would keep him off whatever he is/was taking.
    he deserves a life time ban.

    Not defending BK but does slip exactly know the extent of this alleged drug use? What he was doing, what is was, how often, why etc etc
    Or is anyone that uses any form of drugs whether it be a $10 joint of weed or a $1000 a day heroin habit just put all into the same category???
    That was more so my point, not having a dig at him more so not knowing the details :)>-

    In his work environment and with the chances he has been given, to be wearing a urine belt every day just in case, the answer to the above is YES.

    He is breaking workplace rules, and has done it before. Instead of getting the help he needs, he chooses to try to cheat the system.. That kind of drug user, has no place in any workplace. Let alone one where an ambulance follows you around when you do your work!!!!

    Lol clearly you don’t know me well enough let alone at all to know why or how I go by that nickname, yet another example of how way off the mark you are!

    I have no reason to put my full name out there to a group of online strangers, the people that matter on this page like the mods and original contributors from back when Della ran this page, they’ve know me personally for over a decade mates id like to think and well enough to save me revealing my real name

    And nothing has been staying in my system like I said it’s sad and pathetic when I come on here and see grown men picking on others saying stuff most wouldn’t say in person to their face. If only this forum had a blocked feature like Facebook where you can block a user and their profile to stop seeing anything they post this site would be back like it was in the old days and enjoyable where you’d actually make friends from it and meet them in person and become mates not p!ss weak men attacking one another while sitting on their arse hiding behind a keyboard.

    Without knowing I will go out on a limb and say he would have returned a sample to mephamphetime . If he had of actually provided a sample. I don’t think I have spelt that properly but you all know what I mean. This drug is at the top of the list for the FIFO. Sector because it’s residule trace elements the parts that provide drug testing with their results exit the body rapidly about 48-72 hours after ingestion

    Yep, its why some FIFO people i know push hard to get the 2 week break, so they can cut loose while down, then get a blood test the day before flyout..If still in the system, they find a good reason to miss the flight, an by the time the next flight is organized,they are generally clear of the crap.

    Just bizarre, to think so many good people i know are slaves to these drugs, and the cheating and lying that goes with their use... An most of them believe the drugs are harmless and help them....

    Anyway, wayyyyyyyy off subject. Drugs are unhealthy for people and not safe in work environments...

    Had a room mate that was on the gear, it was in the depths of winter and left him and some mates outside under the patio doing their thing on a friday night, must have been 8pm. Anyway, i go out and spend the night at my mrs place on the Friday and sat night. I rock up home on sunday at noon, walk outside, and they are all still sitting in exactly the same chairs, wearing exactly the same clothes.... took a while to twig that they had not moved, eaten, slept since the friday. Anyway, one of those that was there is spending a great deal of time in her majesties care for murder. The $hit cooks your brains.

    Suffered similar thing in business.
    Nearly sent the company broke.
    And as a business partner and director there is not a damn thing you can do about it.
    As far as business goes as a director if you fail a drug test your shares in the company should be suspended.

    Firstly i am not sticking up for anyone, 3 strikes and you are out for me but i find it interesting that the jock gets caught and everyone wants him drawn and quartered but Willie Rioli does exactly the same thing as far as i am aware and everyone seems to say oh thats ok and wants to put their arms around him. Seems double standards for me, if you havent learnt after two warnings then get another job.
