Some good shepherding early in the race and a couple of them appeared to get stood on from behind..the 8 dog was an eyecatcher but let's not take anything away from the winner! Brilliant beginning helped to win the race.

I paided a bill for $1800 today for my 3/4 share in a horse and recieved $1200 for our dog running second. It's become very standard practice.

a good week for the dog...2 wins in 4 days, and going around on Wednesday again.. And the cost comparison between horse/dog is amazing. If by now he hadn't won a dollar and had shown nothing, it wouldn't have cost more than 12k.......that's the big difference. The cost to find out if you have a chance or not. In a horse of mid-range quality you'd be up for 60k +...and at the moment that makes dogs very attractive.

But also KRAH flew half way around the world and got too the track the hard way.
I just bought a pup for $3500, I've just paided for ire rearing and breakin upfront at $3380 and it's flight to WA cost me $200 so that's just over 7k.
It should never cost you much more then that.

  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
Yep, my original figure of $8k to track, is really close to the mark..KRAH had at least 2 extra plane trips. The one we just bought i figure will come out under that.

A lot less risk than an horse.

It's hard not to like all forms of racing IF your getting the winners but in the wash the dogs return us more but the excitement of your horse striding down the straight beats the dogs.
As long as KRAH is giving everyone enjoyment and your getting a feel for dog racing that's all that counts.

It is with a great deal of heartfelt sadness that I let you know that Crash ( aka Krah) is no longer with us.
He succumbed to abominable issues early this morning.

What a ride he gave us for the relatively short time he was with us.

He certainly bought a lot of joy, happiness and fun iinto my life and will be sorely missed.

    RIP champ

This is how I'd some up KRAH.
He wasn't just a greyhound he was the PTT greyhound that's probably got more pages then the Black Caviar thread.
He had owners wifes sitting up late at night to enjoy his thrilling front running performances and his owners going to bed at night on a high.
He's not forgotten, He's name will come up in conversations when it starts with' My first greyhound was called KRAH and this is his story.
RIP Crash and I hope your little brothers and sisters are good enough to get there own thread on PTT.
    RIP

Its a crazy concept Slip, but one that has been floating around in the head every since Krah got his first win...There are a few good pacer punters and owners on here, so when the time is right i'll have a look.

Rather amazingly there have been no 2 people (except Mrs Rio and myself) in both Krah and Essayez...

And CPL has hit the nail on the head. We all loved screaming into the TV at this late night front runner. We only had a few nights at the track and were really looking forward to this spring to catch up with every one a bit more often. There's a reason for everything and Crash has financed another dog that is just under 6 months old from the same bitch....maybe if it looks as good as Crash we'll start a thread up for him too.

And i hope all the PTT'ers have got as much kick out of following Krah and Essayez as all the owners have. Many first time horse owners, and many first time dog owners. What a buzz!!
