I thought the Guineas was a 3yo race.

Sorry to Burst your bubble Rusty. X_X

But this will be no 3 horse Match Race.

Winx has got 2 to 3 lengths on Bart, and Barts got 3 to 4 lengths on He or She.

He or She also nominated for the Cranbourne cup on Sunday so could yet become a match race. Would almost be better in a sense then a 3 horse race.

You would think they might want a decent hit out for Winx before the Cox, especially if Hartnell heading that way. 2 horse race might not cut it

Absolutely kicking myself for not taking the $41 earlier this year about Winx to remain undefeated up until the Cox Plate!
I didn't have a Sportsbet account active at the time but I did joke with a mate to put $100 on it...
    I think @TorpedoPunt might remember

she went into the cox pretty fresh last year and it worked out ok and bart looks fit already so could very easily turn into a track run for both of them not wanting to knock either horse around too much.

That sounds suspiciously like a multi bet by another name @thefalcon

5 runs at less than $1.80 each run would be no more than 12/1 if you were to multi up her runs this prep (assuming she's had 5?)

crikey, i loved kingston town, but my memory is shot, didn't kt get beat in that race at his first go?
i can remember(i think!) that mighty kingdom beat it in the caulfield cup when they were both three, and it took kt a few runs to break its drought in melbourne?

Yes, KT got rolled by Hyperno in his first Caulfield Stakes. He won it the other 2 times he ran. I think he was beaten in all 5 starts in Melbourne leading up to his first Cox Plate win. I think that's what prompted Bill Collins to say "this is the real Kingston Town" when he romped in by a space.

Kingston Town (as a 3YO at the end of July 1979) won 5 in a row including the Peter Pan, the Gloaming and the Spring Champion Stake and although he had been in work for a long time and was still growing, TJ decided to send him to Melbourne for the Derby, along with Iko, Shogun, Mighty Kingdom, Miss Budweiser and Imposing.....handy little team. His first start in Melbourne was the Caulfied Guineas as a 4/7 favourite on a heavy track, first try at the reverse way of going (for him) for Malcolm Johnston and he finished 3rd to Runaway Kid and Bold Diplomat, slipping and sliding and on the "wrong leg". His next run was the Caulfield Cup and he ran 4th for Wayne Treloar behind Mighty Kingdom (Johnston rode the 3YO at 47 kg and nearly collapsed post race), Warri Symbol and Sonstone. Johnston stayed with Mighty Kingdom for the Derby and Roy Higgins  was booked. After tearing a plate and half the sole of his hoof off in running, he ran a gallant 2nd to Big Print.
He didn't start in the Caulfield Stakes in 1979, having just the 3 starts in Melbourne that year. He got beaten by Hyperno in 1980 but won 2 Caulfield Stakes after that, along with a lazy 3 Cox Plates, but was much more comfortable going the Sydney way.

Malcolm mentioned on Off The Rails that KT was a 4 length better horse in the clockwise direction

from memory, kt won 27 or so straight in sydney.
of course my memory is likely stuffed!
i have a cassette tape someplace of all johnny tapp's calls of kt in sydney, and they were great.

I think I saw almost every one of those wins as well. It was an incredible era of Racing in Sydney.

Why wouldn't someone even put a maiden filly or mare in, 4th counts as blacktype so you could make it worth a heap more even if it ran a furlong last.
