Singapore ran 11 races today with 30 and 35 minute gaps between races. 40 minutes between races   in Perth is to long and makes it a boring event.

agree...but aren't all race times decided by sky?

I thought it was a massive leap forward into the 21st century getting Esperance to start a couple of hours early, which they did last week.

    Too easy.

Twilight meetings would be fantastic or why not start early? First race at 7am (10amEDST) all over by 10.30am-11am before it gets hot.

They get down there early for trials and trackwork so give it a go. Mmmmm, I can smell the bacon, eggs and coffee now, what a great way to start the day.

    Victoria Extends 30-Min Gap Trial

....... One of the reasons put forward by RV for the extension of the trial is that it argues coverage of Victorian racing during the initial trial period was compromised by Sky Racing pushing seven of the nine Caulfield races last Saturday from the Sky Racing 1 channel to Sky Racing 2 ........

Wouldn't care if it was 22 at Ascot. It is one of the best decisions RWWA have made for ages. Get in eay stop those 70 + horses being pushed in the early week heat and we all bat on another day.

Would've been nice to have a small twilite meeting but we all know things generally can't be changed that quickly. Maybe next summer they may actually just schedule a few twilight midweeksninto the program from the get go!!!

They made the correct decision given the forecast at the time.
And it was made with enough time to not cause any expense to trainers who had to travel.
Right decision or wrong decision, at least it was made.
    Well done.

Why's that falc? The hindu holidays or the humidity?
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,486 posts

rain and the humidity, punta. went one mid march..walk 100m and you are drenched in sweat, plus the heavy rain.

august/sept is by far the best months.

Been some decent downpours today falc, just about blew a plug in a puddle on the walk to the y bar! Price was brilliant this week and I don't mind the humidity, I'd actually prefer it as there's more chance of me swimming then as opposed to 29c and dry. And the fact that mrs notapunta is due to have notapunta jnr in June so thought we'd sneak a last holiday in :x
Edit : in the y bar right now as it pours down outside haha

Really? Staggering observation there .... I was merely highlighting that the breeze was in early and temperatures would drop quickly. Obviously above your intellect.

It was 36 at 1pm at Perth airport (bureau of meteorology site). I run 20k's after a 12hr shift,  north of Meeka in 40+degrees every other day.

To call off a meeting because of "forecast" temperatures is mind boggling IMO

    :-O

As a weather nut, and to settle that point...... The sea breeze experienced on the coast didn't in the slightest penetrate inland (ascot or even City).
