    Watching replays this morning ,i have no clue why the girl Warwick went and breezed on Wink and Nod the horse races best with cover and saved up for a sprint and upto 2000m thought that was very strange was never going to run the trip ridden like that

    because it was 2000m obviously, and the pace was likely going to be more relaxed.
    it was the correct way to ride it imho.
    nothing wrong with the ride, because it would not have that same sharp sprint home in 2000m race as it would have in a 1200 - 1600 race.
    it was the BEST way to try and get it to run the trip imo, except it just was not good enough over 2000m.
    maybe they went a bit hard early(don't know yet), but if they did, and it was back in the ruck, it would have went worse than it did.

    maybe he 'might' have, but you will never ever know.
    i doubt he would have made any difference.
    now that the data is on my computer i am even more confident it was the right thing to do(even if unintentional),  as they walked.
    how would a horse suspect at 2000, have got over the top of them if it was further back?
    maybe it was simply a case of the BEST HORSE ON THE DAY WINNING!

    I agree, I don't think it would have made a difference how the horse was ridden. I'm not sure why it was so short either?

    Respondent, after a brief holiday at Oakland Park Stud, will be aimed at the Perth Summer Carnival but with a different program in mind.

    Paris Dream who was also purchased won't be seen most likely until very late in the year after a lengthy spell to get over a manageable minor issue.

    Both were purchased yesterday at the MM Winter Sale.

    Probably right there Carey my point was ridden with a smother would have given it a better chance to run out 2000m but again it's the unknown I suppose

    I stayed well clear of it as way too short for a horse who has never raced over the distance.

    Previous trainers A Durrant and G Williams not very often other trainers improve horses from those 2 blokes I remember Adam saying he didn't think it was a stayer more 1400-1600 goes ok but Respondent as does the other horse all the best with them Damien

    Thanks Dungy. Irrespective of who trains Respondent, he was purchased with a definite view to races up to 1800M but most likely a mile. He will be aimed at The Railway Stakes but he needs to find something to be again competitive at that level. He is rated high enough to get a start based on the last couple of years of entrants, and he himself wasn't that far away a couple of seasons ago as a younger horse finishing 2 1/4 len behind his stablemate Elite Belle.

    If whoever takes him on can rejuvenate him through a change of Training and environment, then with the racing around the Railway and the race itself, the $57,500 is money well spent in the Owner's eyes. Every year I try and buy horses that can progress beyond Saturday class, I think everyone aims for that, but this horse is already there, so we will have a throw at the stumps and see what happens.

    Nil, I would say..no offence to damo.
    all respondent has to do is win 2 sat. races to almost cover purchase price...which he may do..a good buy imo, tivs.

    Hard to believe Respondent hasn't won for over 2 years when he was a 3yo 73 rated horse. Now he's a 90.
     The thing is people spend way more than that on yearlings with the odds stacked against them. Respondent is already guaranteed to be competing in stakes races for good money. If he's placed well, the owner should be able to have some good fun.

    That there is the problem though - place him where ?
    Rising 6yo, going to decide he doesn't want to do it sooner than later, and going to take a lot of ruins to get his rating back down to a winnable level.

    Not a know on the horse, or Damien - that's WA racing is what I'm explaining.
