It's too early to be making that call. From all accounts it doesn't look likely that they will make the opening day date, but gazing out my window right now it looks like a lovely day to be growing grass with all this sunshine. We probably just need some real warmth rather than single figure overnight temperatures and icy morning starts.

For sure and certain, Belmont will not be an option.

by the looks of the footage northam is looking a bit sick and looks like it's due for a break although the inside grass looked pristine . back to ascot flew in yesterday looked nice and green from the sky those weeds obviously doing the trick but yet to be seen if can hold up as the previous posts have mentioned

I don't think he can be held responsible Spinking for 2 reasons

1..as already stated in every press release..its the naughty weathers fault!!

2..he hasn't been their so how could it be his fault??

If you are bad at your job then you should lose it , perth racing would stand to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars if opening day is called off , what conpany would keep an employee who loses that anount of money for the company

So when he was in Singapore a couple weeks ago for his other business how was that helping PR. I don't he gives a shit about PR only his pocket and his ego.

thnaks howieB, i was told he has been out of town a few times for "things" and when he wasn't out of town he was over at the stadium!!!. I know you dont have to sit on the track 24/7, but he seems to take the liberty of doing whatever he wants.

If we miss this opening day, that will be two years of the same...At that rate he is certain for a promotion. Probably replace Yovich as the CEO(or whatever his title is) at this rate!!!

if you listen to the whole interview he did mention that they need to make the call early, if it is only a fair chance they will make it its probably better for all concerned not to race so it doesn't end up like last year. Very good advice.

^^^^^common sense and good planning......if anyone at PR had that this situation would never evolve.

The sooner RWWA and the stewards get involved the better for everyone. Maybe the grounds keeper at Kununurra could come down and help our

I would have thought RWWA, WAROA, the WA Jockeys Association and WA racing Trainers Association should be seeking clarification now from Perth Racing regarding the state of the track being ready for the opening day of Ascot considering what's at stake.

Being an owner of a horse that could be running around on opening day i would't want my horse racing on a possibly unsafe track.

I wonder if Worksafe would pursue Perth Racing should there be a fall due to the state of the track?

Its one thing to have the track ready (green grass) its another thing to have the jocks and stewards give it the all clear. 0% chance it will go ahead i reckon.
