Good Friday Racing at Ascot

    One of the reasons I gravitated to WA racing was that I could keep up with the form. Racing 3 times per week was really good. Now I'm getting punch drunk with the number of meetings. Keeping up with the form is a real chore.
     I'd love to see fewer races with bigger fields as opposed to lots of races with small fields. Surely the former is much more efficient for the industry.

    So now with Good Friday racing, we will have racing 6 days in a row. Ascot, Bunbury, Ascot, Ascot, Albany and York.  :-&

    i came to wa for similar reasons.
    it was where i could do my own thing, as distinct from all the other stuff i was involved with racing wise.
    it was my relief valve.

    it was easy to follow.
    had the best class system in australia.
    not too many meetings, and easy to figure differences between the jurisdictions.

    and then and then and then....they stuffed it up big time.
    racing managers and handicappers that have no idea about racing and handicapping.
    more and more and more and more, of the same nothingness.

    now their premier customers are talking with their feet, and still nothing will happen.

    if there was no eastern states to prop them up, then wa racing would likely be in big big trouble

    Lets keep posting our opinions and not resort to name calling. Tim Wison  (L.G.B.T.I Activist) said and I quote; Our society needs more civil discussion not less. You can't persuade people to change their mind if you only talk to people you agree with. Anyway there will be racing on Good Friday whether we like it or not..

    We are very close to that point now....and it will happen in the next 12 months..we then have no value to sell and we have next to no control on our income stream!!!

    Free admission is a great idea. Kudos for that. Not a tightwad or anything but don't think necessary to charge people to go in and gamble. Lose a bit at the gate but gain in so many other ways. Families = atmosphere = will come again. Give up a bit to gain a lot. It's time.

    Reminds me of a petrol station in Albany many years ago - free air today..free petrol tomorrow! Only trouble was the sign never changed.

    No the Bunbury Thursday meeting has been transferred to Wednesday and therefore no meeting Thursday

    Judging by this thread looks like we would be better off running a 4 race card at Ascot every second week...... MAX

    And not within 5 days either side of any public holiday....

    races at 30 minute intervals would be a great start at attracting more people especially to midweek meetings, Vic do it with success every day so why cant we follow suit.

    I can bet you'd get more people to the track if they were standing around waiting 40 odd mins between races, get in and get out and that would give trainers and jockeys more time to get personal stuff done before or after the meeting being over in a shorter space of time
