They would never attack Parnham when he was an apprentice. He tried to put the breaks on in the Derby, too and that was a mess. All of a sudden rival hoops have learned what initiative is.

Worse case of team riding I have seen in a long time.
Both Zarantz and Dark Alert both ridden upside down compared to last runs.
Bob gets the result he was looking for.
The money on the winner was there for a reason.
Another example of the authorities lack of backbone preventing this stuff to be allowed to happen in W.A racing. Fair dinkum disgrace.

@detonator I was on the fav and it was  the second leg of an all up( @thefalcon was right in this case). I don't have an issue with rivals testing out an odds on fav, it's more the fact that initiative is apparently only used selectively. Warwick said pre race the instructions were to not to do anything silly. No way Zarantz goes that hard if it leads but it Parnham takes a sit the fav finshed a lot closer than it did leading.

Not sure the top weight trained by Bob Peters no1 trainer and ridden by Bob Peters no2 rider Glen Smith should have been the one to commit suicide taking on the leader. Dark Alert owned by Bob Peters and ridden by his number no1 jockey is up on the speed waiting to pounce.
Dark Alert couldn't get out of its own way last start. Change of tactics up on the speed when the favourite is hassled to death. Geez looked suspect at best.

You can't expect the other riders to allow an odds on fav to go to the lead with no pressure and turn a staying race into a sit and sprint. It may happen more than it should but if you're on the fav you should realise you've got a target on your back. He didn't have to lead. He did and he paid the price.

So "Peters man" did you read my post ?
You failed to mention the connection between the sacrificial lamb (Zarantz) trainer and jockey to the owner of the winner. By all means pressure the fav, but the "pressure" horse was carrying 59kgs and was ridden completely different to when coming second to the fav in the Bunbury Cup and today with a one and a half kg weight swing. Doesn't make sense ? Unless .......

I wouldn't normally direct anyone to listen to D Macs race calls but he sums it up perfectly about 100m left to go in the Pinjarra Cup and after the horses start to pull up.

I did read your post but I've also read the many posts where you maintain Douglas Whyte and Lindsay Smith gifted Darren Weir the KT. I'd say you have a naturally cynical disposition.

Parnham was punked twice in two days on  favs in staying races. Willie Pike he ain't. I don't think he or Smith knew they were on track record pace. But if you ride an odds on fav the same way every time you are predictable. Did Smith ride the race to beat the fav? Sure, but that doesn't mean it was dodgy ride. Bad ride? Hell yes but there are plenty of them every day of the week.
  • detonatordetonator    4,397 posts
Cynical disposition ? Yeah I do actually, particularly when a world class jockey drops his hands in a group one, and the stallion beats the gelding in a group one and the winning trainer splashes $5000 across the bar. Anyway Peters man. You are entitled to your views as I am. We beg to differ on this one as well.

dark alert had a 5kg weight swing over material man 2 starts ago with arguably a better run.... pike got caught flat footed last start - no way he was making the same mistake again.
and the trainer for the top weight and the winner are different? geoff durrant & Jason Miller train the winner. Grant and alana williams trains the top weight.
talking out of your **** if you think the top weight was running the race to set it up for a horse trained by a different trainer. yes they have a connection, but if you start looking at races to find every way their is a connection then every race is set up.
parnham did not have to lead - could have let zarantz go and take a sit. Pike again made everyone look silly with a great patient ride.

There not stablemates so how is that team riding ?? Zarantz fired up and Smithy let it roll simple as that and Pike was stalking he was always going to ride Dark Alert more handy to keep it switched on in the run , team riding lol lol

Team riding does't necessary mean you are in the same stable. Check out the the reports from the Q.LD. trots. I know it is a different industry but it happens.

well of course he was left flat footed at bunbury, because the pace was only so so, and those up front still had a lot of horse under them
it was a run with NO intent is my honest opinion.
yesterday was more its normal style.

all you need do to see how crap the ride was, is look at the very next race that day over the same course.
class 3 run in faster overall time.
bunbury cup 103.63 to the 600
    class 3 101.49 to the 600

of course he was left 'flat footed'!!! =))

i have just one question for you sticks.....are you a steward? =))

i'll reserve my opinion of what happened yesterday, until i see numbers.
