I thought ok discussion about this on radio, treading carefully obviously. No mention of this happening before though to the same stable/jock on multiple occasions which is a little convenient. There are many ways to skin a cat, not always going to be a fixed odds money trail, especially in this day in age. The stewards will do their job and leave no stone unturned and deliver a verdict soon enough you would hope. And the stewards arent going to be swayed by anything but the facts so the social media argument is little thin. Its the way it is now, everyone can watch and comment on everything.

Don`t think she likes her tweets posted on PTT.

She blocked me after I posted her tweet about the celebrations over her first quinella.

She doesn`t mind keeping her eye on PTT but gets upset when anyone sees her social media posts.

    Spot on Rio!
Most of us might not have ridden in too many races but are far above the arrogance that some in the industry seem to try and put over us.
Blind Freddy has seen the way some of these prima donnas perform... and it aint pretty!

Not sure they were having a shot at social media Rio, but highlighting its impact in these kind of rorts. They have the privilege of a microphone and a spot on the airwaves.
All we have is twitter, PTT etc to have our say.
Because they are in the industry they also have to flirt around the issues at hand to protect their comrades.
But the people (or PTT members) have spoken. !!!! Our eyes don't deceive us.

I hear you Deto...but they were saying social media was jumping to conclusions and possible making it sound worse than it is (pretty hard to do for anyone who has a set of eyes)... And then straight into theorizing on their own thoughts.

So it appears as though they were saying we can discuss it (while not discussing it) but the rest of you cant..it was a pathetic chat by people who are as miffed by the situation as all of us, but don't want to say so, cos it might be contentious!?!?!?!

And i now realise it was our TAB Channel. If that is the level of stupidity that is now on that channel no wonder i don't listen to it anymore...If you aren't allowed to give an opinion, then skip over it and say nothing....

Sorry lost my train of thought as the gorgeous Samantha Jolly came on the TV...What a classy looking lady she is...end of rant

Rub him out for a long time

Probably be good for Brown to concentrate more on his rising and less of his time on social
Media he is like all of us allowed an opinion but because he’s a jock ,,,, or that’s his occupation doesn’t mean he is correct he will probably end up riding up there as he really isn’t city class and hasn’t been for a long time

That is the core business of social media , anyone and everyone can now have there say . And all those that do now than ever before have more vehicles available to them to do it. i never considerd myself a user of social media no facebook  twiter instagram etc. Then realized i comment on here PTT.  really what i am most probally trying to say is nothing that was once unscrutinized  now is becuase of social media . mostly everybody on this forum has a pretty good understanding of the rules of the industry. There are rules in place for a reason , regardlees of why the rule has been broken it has been whether it be a race at geraldton or a group won at ascot both outcomes are the same (rider stopped riding) unless there is some inconsistincies in betting from the race, which it seems are finding harder to find because of the amount of meetings on the day and what agencies were fielding  markets. there has to be some consistency in  the punishment

    ~~Assume a rort~~  (im not 100% convinced)

    - Smallish tote pools (?)

exacta, correct order tri/first 4. But even a cash bet on the winner over the tote window.

Simple fact is, it looks bad, he stopped riding, then he fist pumps the winner. It needs a penalty. I was on the 2nd place getter. Not a huge amount of money but still..

Why does there have to be a betting plunge for it to be a breach of rules???

There can be many reasons why it was done...Who cares. If the stewards have the balls they will convict him on the dropping of the hands and not riding his mount all the way to the line. What penalty befits the crime in this instance, is what it will be. Any betting anomalies will only enhance the penalty (if there is one). But just got on with the inquiry about the riding tactics first and foremost, then decide what the penalty is afterwards.  Like every other enquiry they hold!!!

The day the industry thinks it has nothing to hide is the day it might actually prosper. Side stepping around the delicate issues is admission of guilt. Clean the industry up and it may prosper.

I know many stories in racing from the horse's mouth where horses weren't meant to win. Not because they were laid or because they'd backed something else but merely because they hadn't backed it and had another race in mind.
Playing devil's advocate........let's say I have a horse trained in Geraldton and I like a punt. When my horse wins, I want to make plenty on it so I can pay my training fees for the year. It's probably only got 1 or 2 wins in it before weight catches up with it. Under no circumstances do I want it winning on Melbourne Cup day. Why? Because it's a WA only meeting and I can't make much out of it. Under normal circumstances I have 3 totes, countless corporates and betfair. I'm sweet, I can pull 20k out with my eyes closed.
Just giving an example of why there doesn't have to be a betting trail type smoking gun for there to be a motive for a quiet ride.

Or you want your horse to win on its owners birthday.
Don't go hard with it on the other days when the punters have their hard earned on it.

Just had a look at Ascot race 6 on Melbourne Cup Day. Tayla Stone got fined $200 for not riding Kramden right out. She hit the horse with the whip 4x AFTER the 50m mark! Then she copped another $200 fine for not riding NewTime right out in the 7th. New Time led and was headed off at the 200m mark. Tayla hit the horse with the whip 8x after being headed off, the last time being at the 25m mark.
Stewards were satisfied that neither horse's finishing position would have been any different.

Contrast this with Markou's effort on Nat The Fyfe where there was no fine, just a warning

There hasnt been a controlling steward based in Geraldton since the 50's.

The same panel of stewards that control Ascot, Belmont, Bunbury, Pinjarra, Northam, Kalgoorlie, Albany and Broome etc control Geraldton so cant see how they have own rules.

Touch The Net....wins a 70+ today. 1st up I was all over it at huge odds in a 52+ C2 and it was on the limit. Still looking for a run...  ~X(
p.s, after winning only its 2nd race in 32 starts today, it will cop 25 ratings points for winning $9k! The system is silly.
