did anyone see Yucatan run and win first up in SA the other day, looks like it got under the guard of a few punters as the SP of nearly $4 seemed way overs for a Melb Cup contender!

Also Trap For Fools runs in the Carlyon Cup at 1600m too at Caulfield (1600m)

Good luck to Lucy and Material Man today.

Good run. Worth following in the eastern states. Could be a good candidate for the futurity stakes (1400m)

Yeah will be right up to them in the all star mile if it gets a crack i think. I was at the track on saturday and interestingly spotted lucy and justin walk the track in the middle of the meeting, not just the straight they ended up doing a full lap.

Is he going Australian Cup direction? In some markets but not others

I'll be there in the flesh to watch my Futurity selection go around on Blue Diamond day.

I think Best of Days is a great chance if they go that way

I think an Australian Cup start depends on whether or not he gets into the filed for the All Star mile as the mile is a week after the Australian Cup.

Vamonoz-Pakenham race 1 #7 -I tipped it last start when it finished 2nd and then in the Tasmanian Derby, I tipped its conqueror, Twighlight Run. Let’s hope it’s third time lucky tonight [-O<

    Faatinah seeking Dubai revenge
    Carl Di Iorio@CDi_Iorio 14 Feb, 2019 O
    ,(
Australian sprinter Faatinah will contest Dubai's richest 1000-metre race in the early hours of Friday morning, seeking revenge on behalf of his owner and carve out his own small slice of history in the process.

Faatinah, prepared by trainers David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, is one of six remaining runners in the US$250,000 Group 2 Meydan Sprint (1000m) - the last of three 1000-metre races scheduled during the 2019 Dubai World Cup Carnival.

The Shadwell Stud-owned gelding contested the other two 1000-metre races at Meydan, winning the first race on the opening night of the Carnival (January 3) before finishing third to Mazzini and Hit The Bid on January 24.

WATCH: Faatinah's last-start third at Meydan

Meydan Sprint betting is dominated by Godolphin sprinter Blue Point, assessed by bookmakers to be $1.30 favourite at his seasonal resumption.

Blue Point was runner-up, beaten a head, in last year's Meydan Sprint behind Shadwell's Ertijaal before Blue Point upstaged Shadwell's Battaash in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes (1000m) at Ascot in June.

Faatinah is $3.80 second favourite behind Blue Point for the Meydan Sprint, with the other four horses in the race at $21 or longer, having displayed form that entitles them to not be considered.

Should Faatinah win the Meydan Sprint, he'll become the first Australian-trained horse to win three races during the Dubai World Cup Carnival.

The Meydan Sprint will be held at 2:05am (AEDT).

Australian Dubai World Cup Carnival winners:

Elvstroem - G1 Dubai Duty Free (1800m) in March 2005

    Benedetti - Rtg 105 Hcp (1590m), Rtg 110 Hcp (1766m) in February 2007

Smart And Mighty - Rtg110 Hcp (1600m) in February 2007

    Valedictum - Rtg110 Hcp (1490m) in February 2009

Ortensia - G1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) in March 2012

Buffering - G1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) in March 2016

    Faatinah - Rtg 100-113 Hcp (1200m) in January 2018, Rtg 95-110 Hcp (1000m) in January 2019
