Belmont Wednesday.

West Australian Racing
You're right @H-Bomber...he's got me in one more time, and for the last time /:) already sent him one invoice, he's the quintessential battler, on for the place again and small win - in the distance race - the roughie Diplomat Express. Barrier 3 and the Fish to smother him away, and bring him home for the drum. Started close to 50/1 previous run at Pinjarra ran 6th and just did enough to warrant going again. Operative word just.

Looking forward to seeing the return of Uni Time ( Universal Ruler ) in the opening race.
Small field should suit first up and am going to bank on him being ready and rocket home past the fave ( by High Chaparral ) and win.

    Hahaha.

Race 4 - the well named Early Explorer - am sure many moons ago a horse ran around in Perth with the same name. Do see the occasional one coming through from time to time.

Better have another outsider too in the distance race - when there rough you can have two.

A reasonable runner up in the midweek trek a few runs ago, got lost in the convoy at Northam, just a fair effort next start, and he's a plugger as well.

If neither run a place I'll Plead The Fifth.

That stayers race, take the favourite out and you could run it 5 times and get a different result each time
I’m hoping the fav gets rolled as I bet right around it with a few at odds

Plead the Fifth? She's a little one dimensional. She doesnt really have a turn of foot so is reliant on a decent tempo. That is anyone's guess... but if they run it along... she's a place chance at big odds. If they crawl and sprint... she's got none.

Pay 1,2 only has seen some very good place dividends recently.

Two horse race Galaxy Star v Gatting. Gatting $1.90 place.
Gatting v Come Play With Me - CPWM - $1.80 place.
Today Uni Time - just six runners $2.20 a drum.

    Three cheers for Tabcorp! <:-P

Precious Cargo not the worst in race 3, back from 1650. That is reliant though on it being up on pace, even leading. Hasn't fired a shot when ridden out the back

Bad fall in the 2nd, hopefully horse and jockey are ok. Looks like Newman couldnt hold his horse and charged into the leader, could get a nice holiday?

Jay rooney reporting Bullet "may have" broken his arm... but unconfirmed at this stage.

I did not see it that way, looks like Staples put the brakes on out front and Newman tried to avoid getting onto the it’s heels.

Not a good look. I think newman will cop a fair whack for that. Tried to squeeze into a gap that wasn't there.

Horse has died from reports. Very sad.

I think Squiddy has it correct from my perspective.

Wow the blinkers have sharpened up Blue Horse there. It seems uncanny how many times that one of the Maley horses will win if there are two engaged in the same race. Didnt have an early quaddie today however always throw them in regardless of form...

depends on what happened to Bullets horse.. it may have veered and started slowing down as a result of breaking down or some sort of heart issue... which is why they'll do a post mortem and figure out what happened before pointing blame at anyone.

Broken right wrist is the news.

Seriously, HTF can you justify leading and sticking to the fence on Ay Tee Em?? Kristy Bennett should be hauled in along with connections. That is a disgrace.

    Yeah it isn't race 1.

Im hoping De Andes can reproduce last start....just stay off the fence! Got out to $17 which i though was generous on last starts shellacking

Not Newman’s fault you’ll find another horse caused him to cause his interference to the horse that went down.. IMO

A fellow several months ago was telling me to follow trainer Ash Maley...I'm listening now.

As for my friend Diplomat Express look he wasn't too bad over the concluding stages, wasn't actually finishing like Kiwi in the 83 Melbourne Cup but he was getting there! Being very kind to him, one more chance and then possibly onwards to the Kojonup Cup!

Thought Plead The Fifth was a better run though and she might pick one of these races up.

Those jockeys that stuck to the inside should be stood down.
    Diplomat Express must be sacked.
Best of luck to Craig Staples.

Time will tell but think the up and coming promising Uni Time is going places. In an era that seems to suit horses up front on the speed this guy has got the old fashioned finishing burst.

Reminds a little of a horse 20 odd years ago that use to power home as a youngster - Red Eye Special.

Apparently Staples Mount in race 2 had a heart attack.

If that is what is being put forward for that fall, this is disgusting. It got it's back legs destroyed by the horse Lee Newman was riding then fell. It only fell because of the interference and it only had a heart attack because of the horrific injuries it sustained. Much like the one a little while ago in the WA Oaks. Actually, exactly like that.
  • H-BOMBERH-BOMBER    10,567 posts
Yes I'm not sure how the post mortem would determine whether a heart attack was the cause or effect of the incident. Just of there was one or not. It is sad to see.

Unfortunately the tradgedies get jumped on straight away by certain sections of the media....where was the report about the latest up and comers or the achievement of Pike over the weekend. Didn't see those

Not entirely sure that Newman was the offender,,have watched the replay a couple of times, admittedly, the angle of vision changes right when it occurs,, but it looks like the pressure came from Wittens mount.onto Newman In urn onto Staples.

Ive seen a few people somehow throw Witten's ride into this, cant remotely see how that is possible when she was in the breezing lane and it was LN who shifted out behind the leader into her.
The mail I heard was that LN was coming out from behind CS's ride because he could hear the horse was having a heart attack. Apparently they can make an incredibly unpleasant noise before/during it happening??

How about some of those rides yesterday? Even PR put out the going stick showing that the rail was going to be putrid. Didnt stop plenty of them trying to go up there, even many races after it had been proven already. Really got to wonder what goes through a lot of these jocks minds. Doesnt look like a great deal of preparation, thats for sure.
