    Pike

    Noske

    B & S Parnham

Maybe Harvey - on past feats and Staeck on results. But both short of the mark.

Apprentices?????? Gee i like Mitchell, but Paterson and Parnham get the results. All about opinion here..Parnham for me then.

i think the object of this game is to put up your selections, not pick the shit out of others selections...mailman will do that when the list gets long enough... =))

    how do you determine it?

my own personal opinion is that i like o'odonnell most.

but if i went by their final tab divis then i would give it to staeck.
and that makes me not one bit happy.

win ratio gives it to harvey by a mile, but he is only 6th best when it comes to how much they pay.

i also know why dungy never gets to sling his missus
pike is about 12th best when it come to actual wins and how many he should have won going by the tab divi.
slightly behind kyra in fact!!  =))

too hard to have any hard and fast rules, and it's fluid anyway.
weight them by recency and everything changes.

ben paterson is actually 2nd behind staeck as far as tab divis go, but how much of that is due to who he rides for?

and that's over a 5 year period, if i did differently then it would likely all change.

they're just one part of a big puzzle is all.
    albeit a big part.

I noted john size said he would never put kids on a horse that could win he rather the weight so my question is y do these trainers keep putting kids on winning hopes for sake of 3kg to see them get hacked up.I notice a horse in race 3 on saturday morton stable.I liked alot of tapes last start and then u look at jockey and u go y.Do THEY NOT WANT BEST CHANCE FOR HORSE TO WIN A RACE.

maybe most trainers don't know enough about racing.

we had a top melbourne trainer working with us.
i can remember him telling me, that when(and if) he goes back to it, he will be far better trainer than what he was before he worked with us.
he knows racing now & not just horses.
and there is a big difference between the two.

What u have said makes sense other wise one comes to the idea that they  just dont have much of a brain. On the other hand if they have no idea then it seems to make a little more sense they dont know they are lowing their hopes before they even start.

Obviously you backed it Mailman, that can happen sometimes in a race.look at the ride on Moonsearch in the Fairetha,3 deep from barrier 4 for the entire race and that was not an apprentice.
If you want to back favourites with apprentices on over the sprint distances its up to you!!

Three deep at Belmont/Ascot is not like elswhere around the country. No point riding pretty and getting blocked for a run.

And well we are on subject chelsea u said moonsearch he has no were need the gate speed of the other horse we are talking about so alot easyer to get caught wide.If u are going to draw line to go with your ideas the context has to be same not apples and oranges.Gate speed and traveling speed are very different things to position in run settling. If u have half the motor u can easy get caught 4 wide from inside gates. If u have a good motor under u from a inside gate it have to be a fair puck up to do the same.

Correct me if im wrong but im sure it was Mick Price who said "sometimes claiming 3kg's is like gaining 3kg's" , too true.

punters make me laugh they try telling jockeys how to ride , try telling trainers how to train there horses and how they should be ridden whats next you going to tell them what to feed them , lol to answer the question P Harvey the best here.
