Noms were fine.  Its the acceptances that are horrible.

The track bias probably has a to do with it.  I know we seem to scratch if a horse draws outside 9 as a rule.  If you cant be in the first 5 around the bend, scratch and nominated for the midweek!
  • BobbyDavisBobbyDavis    916 posts
Yes the noms were quite good i thought but it's concerning how few accepted

The feature was a debacle from word go. 2x 1500s, 2x 1800s and a mile on the same card....programming?????
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
Yes, so acceptances were probably fine.
Issue was it was the same horses nominated for two races at a time (hence cut in half at acceptances).

6 and 7 horse fields are poor, given another scratching or two, and those races become a farce!

Hopefully better fields when I'm out there next week!

Oh for a two year old right now that didn't go shinsore ??? How weak and small are those fields ? This would have to be the worst two year old season for a decade.

I'd suggest the lower numbers being bred are starting to have an effect.
As I've been saying for those couple of years - oh to have the stock ready to go come the time :)
(As you are saying too Damo).

I thought the quality of the 2yo race was actually pretty good, just with low noms.
Our Time Will come looks like a speed machine, as does swift platinum. Chin Strap looks like it will be a nice horse over further. Atacama has won two trials well and the other three have all won trials.
Ive seen a LOT worse quality 2yo races.

looking at fields now and although small, they're quite competitive

would have like to see Pike stick with Already Famous, $2.10 for Tonto is ridick odds

Bedamijo fresh up over 1800 could be a risk, cant see a reason to jump off Cougar Nights

Looks like a 2 horse race Dungy
    I've gone the otsher way!
They are both great trainers of 2yo's but I am just guessing the new one might be special.
R2 I thought Carry the N plus anotherrrr chance for Terror Force.
I took 3.5 on TF but 7 in WA!!!
Like you Hash I thought Tonto was silly odds; so Already F and Saker for me.

Going on exposed form i would have thought let it slip would be shorter than the $2 on offer. As long as she gets a clear run at them with 200m to go she wins.

seriously? they said that? surely just for one particular race... because they are continents apart on ability.

I agree Diva. My thoughts were for The Cobbler and Spirit Bird as they were the best of these in the Guineas.
Let it Slip 2.2 in NSW; looks like they think Glittebell something beaten last time.

Go back and watch Champion fillies and Kingston Town Grant ,Bob and Willie all said it that there was maybe a length between them at best read the stewards report the horse had been mighty unlucky in some races

Don't get me wrong, very nice horse and I think it will win, but it's not the same class as perfect reflection imo

I spoke to W Pike only last week about Arcadia Dream,he said she is a very nice horse, but when she races she always hits a flat spot in running, this is why she always seems to find trouble.

    Don't know what happened there.
Spoke to WP last week about Arcadia Dream. He said she is a very nice horse, but always has a flat spot in running, which is the reason she always seems to find trouble in her races.
  • The problem with Tonto is that he needs a kick in the guts at about the 800m.
Jarrad Noske is the type of jockey to get the best out of the horse.
