R1. Young Membership Plate - Scott Embry
The Initial Plate brings together a group of very young 2 year olds for their first race track experience and there are a couple here who have trialled very well. The Little Hercules and Achernar Star trial was superb with those two juveniles gapping the remainder of the field in an impressive showing. They head the market and deservingly so. Neville Parnham has a brilliant record at winning the initial plate and he saddles up Turbo Power. His trial was sound when fighting out the finish with stablemate Athlete, has blinkers added to race gear and is probably the value runner of the three. Little Hercules could not have been more impressive and must be respected while the on-speed types Achernar Star and Thunderstrut must be included. Love 2 year olds who lead and that would make either of those gallopers hard to beat. Always play the 2 year olds with caution.
2. LITTLE HERCULES - 4. TURBO POWER - 1. ACHERNAR STAR

Race 1 Lucy Mae thought it was a very good trial
Race 3 Rising Sea will appreciate the 1300m
Race 8 Blackwood blinkers on
Clappa Thunder has had more than his fair share of chances as a 27 start maiden, however, I think from barrier 12 and dropping back to 1200m Tayla Stone should be able to find the front here and lead. From there she dictates terms and Clappa Thunder has been pretty impressive (relative term) so far this preprataion when caught three wide the trip on a number of occasions. At $5.50 the drum I think he is value. Red Hue is still noted in many race books as being trained by Gino Poletti but I beleive is first-up for a new trainer, his trial effort was very sound and even though he is drawn awkwardly and has never beaten a horse home has contested races tougher than this and can figure at odds. Cheap Express should enjoy the run of the race from barrier 2 and be there abouts in the finish. Dagorlad dropping back to 1200m is a massive concern for me, he will need to work forwards three wide from the 600 to be any winning chance. Crowder dropping back to 1200m also concerns me, will savage the line but from a long way back.
1. CLAPPA THUNDER - 16. RED HUE - 11. CHEAP EXPRESS
SUGGESTED BET - 1. CLAPPA THUNDER $50
This is a quality Saturday 3 year old line-up with Royal Missile and Bonny Be Good clashing again after Royal Missile surprised the short priced favourite at their last encounter. Bonny Be Good was backed from 2.20 into $1.65 confidently after her booming first-up victory over Royal Missile's highly touted stable mate Caipirinha. Royal Missile was able to build momentum and sweep round the favourite at the top of the home straight and record a most impressive victory. They clash again here and bump into atleast two other handy types in the undefeated Nashville Cat who looks as though he will thrive at 1300m and Swedish Memories who ran a fast finishing third to Gee Boss and Sweet Ora. Those four look to have the race between them and are all very hard to split. Lovely viewing race but not one I want to be financially invested in.
9. BONNY BE GOOD - 4. ROYAL MISSILE - 1. SWEDISH MEMORIES
Cherie Amour is racing in career best form and can definitely fill a hole in this trifecta at odds. Her racing pattern should suit barrier 2 where Jordan Turner can position up just beind the hot top end speed anticiapted to be generated by Agachar Cruz and Transgressor. From there the veteran mare will get a lovely tow into the race and appeals at eachway odds. Agachar Cruz lead and was run down first-up and will look to take up the running again. David Harrison gave her a strong push on The Sports Daily on Wendesday morning and with 58.5kg looks well weighted. Transgressor has drawn very awkardly in barrier 11 and will likely have to punch into the breeze outside of Agachar Cruz but is a capable type who needs to be ridden up on the speed to show his best. Brackets has things against him from barrier 10 but like Agachar Cruz drops out of a much stronger race than this.
5. CHERIE AMOUR - 1. AGACHAR CRUZ - 10. TRANSGRESSOR
SUGGESTED BET - 5. CHERIE AMOUR $20 x $30
We saw last week with Hot Goods that when Justin Warwick engages 3 kilo claiming apprentice Sarah Bonner on a speedy type that we can expect them to go very quick out in front and try to steal the race from the corner. Having accounted for much hyped mare Amelia's Love last start former Bob Peters mare Audience carries a postage stamp 51kg for Bonner and will look to run them into the ground. I think at the $3.30 on offer she is pretty short and I'll look elsewhere. Much the same for Universal Law who will find 1000m much too short for him, with the anticipated speed he will be charging late but it may be from too far back. He is much better suited between 1200-1600 and actually has his first career attempt at the short course. I've settled on Gigante who has the speed to take up a prominent position in running and be one of the first horses to have a crack at a potentially floundering Audience over the final stages. Travinator must lump 61kg but a genuinely run race suits him. Kennocha loses the services of William Pike but only carrying 56.5kg can figure, as can Benito who is looking to bounce back after a lacklustre last start performance.
2. GIGANTE - 1. TRAVINATOR - 5. KENNOCHA
Proxy looks like he will get a gun run from barrier 1 over the 2200m and as long as he can find clear running down the home striaght probably has the sharpest turn of foot in the race and appeals as a last start winner at eachway odds. His previous three runs this preparation have all been excellent and is a favourite of long-time forum contributer and all round good bloke H-Bomber, no doubt he will be having a swing at the requested overs on Punta yet again! Fathoms of Gold has found a real niche at 2000m+ and even though he is drawn awkwardly has the services of Autier who is an excellent reader and rater of speed over the staying journey. Will get rolling from the 800m and see how many of these are true stayers. Flying Force gets out to a journey for the first time this campaign and has been gradually building fitness in tougher races than this. He is usually pretty consistent at this distance range and is one to include at odds.
2. PROXY - 7. FLYING FORCE - 3. FATHOMS OF GOLD
SUGGESTED BET - 2. PROXY $50 x $50
Wink and a Nod is brilliantly weighted to win this race first-up and as long as William Pike can find a spot for her in running she will be incredibly hard to beat. There was amazingly $4.50 bet on one particular corporate, however, good luck getting on for more than a few dollars if you've ever backed a single winner with them. Most other corporates have opened around the $3.50 mark and even that looks attractive at the weights scale. Her record is impeccable and no doubt has been set of this for a long time. For interest sake I'll tip Scales of Justice who is an up and coming galloper alongside last start winner Let It Slip who has an exceptional turn of foot when right. Paul Harvey riding at 55kg from barrier 6 should ensure that Wink and A Nod is three wide for a large portion of this race and we will get to see just how good she is. No doubting her class and credentials but will need to do it tough which is super exciting. Guineas winner Great Shot looks in for another cracking preparation after an effortless trial suggested he can run a race fresh on speed from the inside.
10. SCALES OF JUSTICE - 5. LET IT SLIP - 2. WINK AND A NOD
This on paper definitely looks a 2 horse match race between Cronkite who just keeps improving for Team Williams and Infathuated who should relish every inch of a mile and gains the services of Paul Harvey to give us an epic battle between The Pontiff and The Wizard. TabTouch opened Infathuated at $4 and he was backed straight into $3.50 while Cronkite opened at $2.60 and was immediately crunched into $2.15. This suggests that most punters, like myself, have identified the last as a two horse race. Hard to split them but with a weight swing of 2kg I'll side with Cronkite. They look to have the race between them. Throwing in Night Prowler as the value play in the race for potentially a juicy place return, love seeing Autier re-united with him and this is the type of race that the Prowler usually bobs up in.
4. CRONKITE - 1. INFATHUATED - 10. NIGHT PROWLER
