Sam Clipperton rode a treble today and is a couple wins from outright 4th in the HK premiership. I'm going to sub him in for the Pontiff who is going nowhere fast.

What has gone wrong with my favourite west aussie jockey the pontiff? looking back at the last October update he was on 17 wins and Moreira was 29. Since then Moreira has racked up 54 winners to the pontiffs ONE!!! I know he had a decent suspension and took a little bit of time out but 54-1 in that period of time is mind boggling. Its no wonder Kramer has taken him off the scoreboard, it was getting rather embarrassing for the great man.

He looks like a pork chop with that haircut.

Who cares what he looks like could look like the whole pig as far as I am concerned. makes no difference to the fact he can sit on

Hype aside there's not that much between Joao and Zac and I wouldn't have thought that before this season. If they could both ride at the same weight there wouldn't be much between them. The haircut(he's 32 btw) probably says a lot about where his head is at.

Moreira on target to beat or go close to his previous HK record.

Damien Lane on target for his rides to earn $10m (previous best $6.6m).

Surely there are worse jockeys to bag (on a weekly basis).

Statistics can say whatever you want them to. Russell Westbrook is averaging a triple double in the NBA this season and he's on target to finish the season with those stats. Yet he's only achieved the feat in about half of the games he's played. So as far as Lane's stats are concerned, are they puffed out by a few black type wins? The criticism I made was about him getting beaten on favs from powerful stables like Darren Weir. That's not opinion, it's fact. Don't like it, don't read it.

"Beaten on tote Favorites" is a flawed way to judge a jockeys ability.

Probably why you can`t back a winner ridden by Lane.

But he does get beaten on a lot of short priced favs. You use prizemoney as evidence that Dane is having a stellar year. You know his mounts earn money for 2nd down to as far as 10th, too. You're not going to give me alternative facts are you?

And you keep backing them, not real smart.

    Lane 2016/17

    Most wins per season, likely.

Highest prize money per season, definite.

10 Group or Listed wins, best season already.

    Think hes going OK.

Lane first caught my attention many years ago at a Bunbury meeting run on Melbourne Cup day not sure who won the Cup that year..but do remember Lane riding about 5 winners at Bunbury. Was a fantastic exhibition.

Do I? The last two I've backed were for a win and a loss. I tend to steer clear of him. In any case, there's a thread about Lane already and this isn't it.
