Andrew, just been watching your obviously biased and poorly educated comments over a long period - just had to say something this time. No agenda, just smarter than you.

Mandy, Andrew had a pretty solid workout at the hands of this Executive. Whilst he does carry an axe, I do understand that even though that case was resolved, he feels a little hurt by what happened to him.

It would be good if he could find personal happiness and move on, but some people never get past it.

So I cut him some slack. It would be good if you could as well.

I wonder as a collective if the members of PTT want to table a series of questions to the powers to be of PR

Para I don't dwell but I don't forget either and I won't until the people involved are held accountable and they should know by now that I don't roll over, they'll get theirs eventually.

I have no issue with the grandstand coming down, it is a disgrace at a national level, but the replacement has to be something smart and well thought out!  It has to work in tandem with the world class stadium across the road and be able to be utilised outside of racing events!

I'd like to see a beer garden type venue that overlooks the racetrack and the city - that'll give people somewhere to punt, drink and eat - almost every night of the week!

Belmont Park has some of the nicest views of the city and river - we need to make the most of them!

I think we are selling PR short once they demolish the disgraceful eyesore of a stand at Belmont u may be surprised at progress on a new facility will be in place inside 3 years the rest will fall into place

    edited January 2014

One of the reasons given for selling off the land was to get the club to debt free position and then to allow it to upgrade the current facilities, from a base of no debt hanging over the club.

The grandstand replacement is a great idea and should have been part of the plan from the start - and therefore part of the negotiations for the sale. What the plan was at the time was to refurbish the current one and therefore they negotiated enough cash to be able to do that refurbishment, plus other necessary upgrades at both tracks....and be debt free.

That is my beef, not the new grandstand, but once again the members are going to be in debt, when that wasn't part of the plan. And the committee is protected from later prosecution, not by law - which can be challenged and if need be has in the past for many boards (not PR board - but general boards of companies) if gross misconduct can be proved - but they are protected by an "act of parliament" from memory (I looked in to this 3 or 4 yrs ago and things may have changed, but not to my knowledge).. So if the club is left with debt, that debt will need to be paid by the members, who didn't know we were going back into debt until this decision had been made.

The initial decision to sell the land was done with many consultation periods with members over several years, which allowed members to vote off committee people if they didn't want to progress. By so many committee being retained it is an indication that the members were in agreement on the issue... This change to put members back in debt was not part of that agreement, in this members opinion.

The question time in May will be well after the event and nothing more than a take it or leave.

I once again re-iterate that having a new grandstand at Belmont is the best thing for all participants in the industry, especially trainers and members In My Opinion.....But going back into debt when we have very few assets (saleable) is a big risk. And I see the main reason for Golden Shower encouraging PR to do it is so that they can use that to advertise the sales of their properties...which is said to take over 10 years to fully develop the entire re-development precinct.. BY that time the gym will be old and outdated!!!

So even if we get told in May that the building is totally financed by Golden Shower - with the club making payments to them for the facility - We will still be in debt, which to my knowledge and understanding was not the expected outcome of selling all of that land on the front step of the CBD..
