Great Shot picking up 2kg on Silverstream and 3.5kg on Material Man on his last runs.. Barrier a bit of an issue but has got across from out there more than once before.

Will put a dollar on him and Ullman...Happy punting eveyone

Ladbrokes : Tom Melbourne to run second in the Railway and second in the Kingston Town - $21. To run second in either race $3.50 . Not great odds. But his record running second lately is good.

Not to mention 4kg on Scales.

@JayJay Tom Melbourne was 2nd to Happy Clapper in the Epsom, right after HC gave Winx a scare in the George Main. TM also has form around Tosen Stardom(beat him when running second in the Kennedy mike (Cantala) who beat Happy Clapper in the Emirates. That's just about as good as form gets imo. Yes , he has a habit of running 2nd but it's the only fault you can find.

Just for the record, i havent settled on my pick as yet. I will do a proper speed map first but I definitely see Supply And Demand generating a decent tempo and Scales Of Justice gradually working across from his middle barrier(assuming emergencies are scratched). Tom Melbourne could hold the rail if Ollie wanted him to. I think i recall him setting up big leads over longer trips before he went to Waller. Variation, Ulmann and BHB should be able to hold prominent positions from their gates.I think a lot of the others will be settling back and praying for luck which, unless they go mad up in front, won't eventuate.

Is there a million dollar race on in Perth tomorrow , you wouldn't think so if you picked up todays West . One little section on Nosk getting down to 53 kg and that's it . Well done West Australian

Think Material Man maybe in the first six in running..a little too far back on the speed map. A very important ingredient speed maps - overrated too!

Sectionals another..no doubt important. But if their going hard up front and a horse running 15th and out the back then rattles home hard into 5th or 6th placing...what's the excitement of it running fast closing sectionals ? Don't need to be Einstein to realise it's run a terrific finishing time off the clock...it's been doing no work in the run - so it should run on - and with good times , it goes hand in hand.

Useful knowledge both but not the be all and end all. Seen too many speed maps go out the door after fifty metres. Things can happen and change fast.

But good luck to punters who use both consistently - if helps you win , why not.

If Bart has completely recovered from his issues....should be sitting 3 deep with cover and be too good for them......I'm on the BHB train.

    cheers

@hash I dont see Scales Of Justice settling in front of Supply And Demand-he has a high cruising speed but not top level speed. It's why he gets beaten at 1400m he will make it across but gradually and really his middle draw is better than 1 or 16 because he will inch fotward rather than use up all his gas. Supply And Demand has no choice-it's drawn wide it either goes forward as soon as the gates open or it sits wide. I can see SOJ outside the leader or one out iif Ollie decides to keep S & D to his outside. As i said, if those three get in a speed duel, the likes of those drawn well that race forward will be the beneficiaries of the perfect suck run.

@Ridersonthestorm33 Railways are typically won from the front-it's just the way Ascot plays over 1600m generally and speed maps are a gold mine if there's bias in play.

Look at Luckygray's 2nd Railway though-all the speed was drawn wide. If Fire Up Fifi doesnt keep pushing forward, the champ probably wouldnt have got the speed in the race he needed-the race was slow historically (1:36.75) but almost a second quicker than Ihtsahymn recorded in his dominant Guineas win..

Lead at all costs? With the extra weight? Wow. It could be a war of attrition then. :)]

Problem was the markets were still All-In even after final field for the Railway.

I haven't seen the track look this good in years, what ever he is doing give this guy the key to the city. I just hope the Directors think the same, unfortunately that might not be true as they have their own agenda and maybe they should leave the decision to PR management.

Also maybe PR should give pay rises to people that actually deserve it and not want it. IMOO
